Coyote5-0 Does anyone remember how to make it so Sync doesn't say out loud "911 assist is set to off"? I thought it was turning Prompts off, but that didn't fix it.
it won't stop until you turn it on, once you enable it it will will stop "reminding you that 911 assist is set to off"

So turn it on, then turn it off again? I'll try that after work.

yeah, mine is turned off, but it keeps interrupting the audio after about 10 seconds to say "Sync is reminding you that 911 assist is set to off" or whatever each time.

After you install the update all you have to do is run another "Vehicle Health Report" doing this will "confirm" your update and will show up in you update history

no you turn and leave it turned on, that way it wont remind anymore, it does the same even on the newest myford touch, its better to leave it on

Yeah, I don't want it on though. I don't know how I feel about 911 being called any time the airbags deploy. What if I was at the track or something?? lol

I would leave it on and for those track days just turn your phone or bluetooth off.

Unless you want to received text messages and calls while on the line ???

I found that the 911 is a neat feature if you involve in a acident and loos conscience....

Sync Basic 4.4 Issues

Hello, new user here!

I recently just updated to 4.4 Sync Basic and I've run into an issue where if my phone (Samsung Note 3) is connected via Bluetooth and 911 Assist is set to OFF (either with or without reminder) that the Sync system keeps turning the center console on and off repeatedly until you either turn on your radio or disconnect the Bluetooth.

I've tried pulling the Sync fuse, re-installed the 4.4 update and used different phones with the same result. If I leave Bluetooth disabled on the phone, Sync/center console does not exhibit this issue. This seems like a software bug that managed to get through the release patch, has anyone else observed this issue since updating?

The video below is exactly what is happening and the documentation of what does/doesn't trigger it. It seems like Sync is attempting to alert the driver that 911 Assist is set to off, but because all audio is off, the notification is cancelled and tries again over and over (the previous build would always play the notification even with the radio/AUX turned off fully.)

What has been documented:

- If bluetooth is disabled, Sync runs fine.
- If the radio/AUX is left on, even if muted, the 911 Assist alert displays/plays correctly
- If bluetooth is enabled and the radio/AUX is left off, the 911 Assist goes through an on/off loop cycle that does not end.
- The On/Off cycle can be "broken" by turning on the radio/AUX.
- If you turn on the radio/AUX quick enough, the 911 Assist alert will display/play correctly.

My goodness, that would be obnoxious to have to deal with!! I hope there is a fix for you. It may be a hardware issue if software updates have done nothing to fix it. Are you still under warranty?

updated Sync and I still can't send text messages. I was hoping for that feature....I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and the basic Shaker radio.

Also, what is the Sync Applink? Is it an app I can download? cause I can't find it in the google app store.

AppLink is just the ability of IOS/Android apps to work with sync and the steering wheel controls and stuff. I believe you can tell sync to "Open Pandora" or "like" songs and stuff like that.

For example:

I have the update files on a stick but after reading all of these, I think I am just going to stay with my current version. Too many hassle, and not enough time to fix it if something goes wrong. The only thing this will do for me is to display the artist/song when I am using Bluetooth. I can live without that.

Mine keeps the input to bluetooth audio after starting the car back up again. This is a very welcomed fix. If that isn't an issue for you, by all means, stick with the original and have it say "Bluetooth Audio" on the display instead of the song and artist.

BT Audio works as advertised. The new bug is if it's on USB, it reverts to Line In on a restart of the car. That used to only happen occasionally, now it is almost every time.

It's great that Line In is now available as an option even if USB is plugged in. Previously it was one or the other, and then plus BT.

You can turn 911 Assist to off without notifications. There are 3 options;
- ON
- Off w/ reminder
- OFf w/o reminder

I said earlier today that I was not going to do an update. Well, I wasn't doing anything so I tried the update anyways. From end to end, it took me about 10 minutes. Then I just had to re-pair my phone. Everything seems to be working fine. We'll see.

I found this and followed this step by step. The only thing missing from here is the reboot part.
