I am into twice a year changes. I change in the Fall and the Spring, simply because of the major temperature differences the car is driven in. I drive it all year long, but not necessarily on a daily basis in the winter. The IOLM is a great tool to manage the changes, and gives me an idea of how the weather effects the oil. I admit to overkill, but when the temps are pushing below zero for days/weeks on end, I tend to be conservative.

Have to admit, that pretty much characterizes the OP's initial post as well as anything else has.

Geeeeeeeeeeeze!!!!!!! You are one **** snotnose!!! Dealer has nothing to gain or lose by changing your oil at 1000 or 7000. They will still owe you an oil change. You and your pops and armchair mechanic friends know better than decades of engineering, racing, testing, researching, new modern break-in additives the factory adds the the first factory oil install, and todays modern engines. Modern time, 100 thousand mile spark plug, fuel filters etc, etc. Purchase whatever oil you want to use and change the darn stuff yourself. If you are that stubborn. Then they will still owe you one. Good Lord, Give it a break!! I can't even type another single word on this discussion, because you are a determined mislead snotnose who has to have his way and I'd be wasting my time with this thread, which sadly, I already did.... Minchia, you're like a 3 year old - Waaaaaaaaa, Waaaaaa!!!!
Adios man!!

I read the first few posts and I just couldn't read anymore. Who in the hell gets their oil changed at 1000 miles? That's absurd.

And OP I'm sure if you read the fine print in your deal, it says free oil changes at recommended intervals or something that ties it to the Ford service schedule. In your "they should do it when I want it" theory, you could just go every day and get your oil changed. Surely you see the absurdity in that thought? They're gonna have it with scheduled maintenance and that's the way it should be. Get over it and pay for your own oil every 1,000 miles until you get to the 5,000 mile mark and then get your one free. Jeez.

Tell the dealer you are about to embark on a 10,000 mile road trip and that you would like to have fresh oil before hand because you wont have time to do it during the expedition.

He wants an oil change at 1000 miles and you think he's going to go 10,000 miles before the second one.
