So that's about 30 lbs heavier than 2010, but with 97 additional hp and a six speed transmission.

So that's +70lbs over the 2010 numbers claimed here.

V6 - manual 3401lbs
V6 - auto 3454 lbs
GT - manual 3533 lbs
GT - auto 3581 lbs

So, a GT coupe lbs. per HP is:

11.2 (2010) vs. 8.7 (2011)

The 2010 stock gt 5 speed bone stock no options tipped the scales at 3533lbs with a weight dist. of 53/47. Equipped (motortrend's example) it saw: 3572 lbs with a (53/47%) distribution.

The 2011 bone stock no options is in at 3603 54/46% weight distribution. So that's 70lbs more- still not too bad. But figure an extra 20-50lbs for options.

(Also what roll will that 54/46 vs 53/47 play? Is the 2010 more balanced?? )

3533lbs / 315 hp = 11.216lbs/hp
3603lbs / 412 hp = 8.745lbs/hp

Optioned Weight
3572 / 315 = 11.339lbs/hp
3650 / 412 = 8.859lbs/hp

Whichever way you slice it. It's still awesome numbers.

Awesome. The spec sheet also says forged steel connecting rods. The article from Autoblog says the following though:

"The connecting rods are forged powdered metal and the pistons are hyper-eutectic (translation: they contain a higher concentration of silicon, which helps reduce thermal expansion)."

Is this just oversight on whoever wrote the spec sheet, in the same way that the weight was 200# off?

Nope, they're forged powdered metal, unfortunately.

In any case, I'm assuming that forged powdered metal is an improvement, be interesting to see how much stronger they truly are. Guess we'll have to wait for someone to throw a rod to find out...

No, they're the same material as the current 4.6L 3V's rods. That's how powdered metal works: they take metal "powder" and through excessive amounts of heat and pressure, they then "forge" a rod, rather than forging from billet.

That weight sounds a lot better. I'm glad the new 2011 isn't 4000 pounds!

Looks like they also changed the size of the front brakes. Yesterday it was 11.4 I think?

Thanks for posting!
