Why does he need to show a timeslip? It is well documented that the 2010 GT500's are low 12 second 1/4 milers bone-stock with a decent driver. Evan Smith (editor at MM&FF magazine) ran a bone-stock 2010 GT500 down the 1/4 mile in the 11.90's. Bolted on drag radials and went 11.50's @ 120 mph in the 1/4 mile. The GT500 is much quicker than any stock GT - even the upcoming 2011 GT.

IF were going to compare a gt500 to a gt why not throw the 11 gt500 in here? Suppose to be lighter. Gm still has no competiton for that and its kind of funny that ford just keeps making it better. Actually when is the 11 gt500 gonna be revealed?

Most likely in the days leading up to the Chicago Auto Show, if Ford holds true to their recent scheduling (and barring any Facebook boasting).

The Z/28 is getting close to becoming vaporware, if you ask me (because of the on-again off-again status), but as far what the GT500 is going get (besides the aluminum block), I'd hazard a guess at EPAS and some comfort/convenience features.

Gm cant figure out what they are going to do next. I know they wont take to kindly to a mustang gt kicking their butt. but all this talking about the new mustang makes me want one bad but Il stick with my pickups till im 25 then finally get me a mustang gt so the insurance is not so bad. lol

shouldn't they be concentrating on maker super high volume sales? then again this is GM so who knows where their priorities are.

I predict a mid 12 sec. 1/4mile with 0-60 times in the 4.3-4.5 sec. range. Pretty much what a E92 M3 runs for $20k less money. The M3 makes much less torque but the gear multiplication will offset alot of this not to mention the stratospheric redline of the E9X's powerplant of 8400rpm.

That's if Obama lets them make a z28 think about it, your just out of banruptcy you owe billions and you want to spend create a niche muscle car? i just don't think they are in the financial position to make a move like that.

The power to weight ratio is going to be very similar. The M3 would probably have somewhat of an advantage with its 50/50 weight distribution and I believe the less low end torque will make the M3 easier to launch out of the hole without smoking the tires. However, the gear multiplication will negate the low end torque loss once the car is rolling. I find it funny that BMW's seem to run better times with less..for example. A 2010 Ford Fusion Sport with a 3.5L V6 making 263hp can only turn low 15 sec. timeslips, while a 328i sport with only 230hp runs mid 14's. Both cars weight about the same. Its the whole package...the 328i has been clocked to 60mph in 5.9 sec. while the Fusion at 6.7. The auto 328i is not that much if at all slower than its manual brother.
