Sorry to hear about the same rod material. That's a killer for me. Onward with the hunt for a 5.4L 4V replacement drivetrain I guess...that new aluminum block 5.4 will be one killer piece of mod-motor madness.

So are the M3 forums. There's also a link posted how the 2011 Mustang went neck and neck with the new M3 on the track. The new Stang puts out 2 HP shy of the almost 60k M3 and about 100 more lb-ft of torque.

Much better and more in line with a weight gain from a slightly heavier transmission...that is about a 300lb advantage over the Camaro.

Moving the battery to the trunk (40 lbs) should give the 2011 a 53/47 balance. In total, we'd need to move 144 lbs from the front to the back in order to achieve a 50/50 balance. What else weighs a lot that is easily relocated? I can't think of anything.

So what if we remove the spare tire and move the battery to the trunk? That should help out with the 50/50 ratio right?

Removing the spare will cut weight, but it will make the ratio worse since the car is already nose heavy.

I think the fact that not all the weight is put up front is important to remember when discussing distribution. I am not saying you guys are wrong, I am just asking if you guys account for the fact that some of the weight is from the transmission which is closer to the middle of the car and will not change balance too much (a little since it is not dead center). Also, I am sure the suspension will be different. I think that they will tweak it just a bit, include a few bits from the track pack as standard while making the track pack a little more stout.
The GT500 will need a completely revised suspension set up since it is losing almost all its weight off of its nose. Balance will be so completely different they will have to change the suspension setup and it will be a killer car capable of a LOT more in the corners (and straights) than the current model. That leaves room for the GT to move upward.
The last bit I think the GT and GT500 need most is wider tires. They have track pack and brake packages, but the tires are still too skinny for all that power. I want to plant my foot and go, haha! Cannot wait to see these cars in the review columns. They are gonna be so sweet!!!
That is just some of my logical rabbit trail off the top of my head. Any caveats?

Could consider manual seats (Corbeau/Sparco) or rear seat delete. Speaking of overall weight then one sould consider lightweight wheels (although stock Fords of late aren't bad).

As for wider wheels how about the 18x9.5 former GT 500 rims?

My non-power cloth passenger seat in my SN95 is pretty **** heavy as is. Have you lifted one of the power, heated leather S197s seats?? Holy crap! When I was working at the stereo place, we had multiple F430 Scuderias in and wow. Carbon Fiber manual seats = you could lift with one finger. Amazing. I want a set!!!

Don't forget to drain the wiper fluid.
Reservoir is way up front.

I weighed both seats in my 2001 Bullitt. The power driver's side seat weighs 60 lbs, the manual passenger seat weighs 40 lbs. Haven't weighed my S197 seats yet, but with the airbags they should be about the same or more.

One thing I've done in the past to lose weight off the front end is to use a smaller, lighter battery. I've gone from a 30 lb stock battery to a 10 lb Odyssey battery in another car before, and the battery I used to have in my Miata weighed 7 lbs. Moving the stock battery to the trunk helps with weight distribution, but adds weight overall because of the long run of heavy gauge wire and the battery box.

I believe it man haha. But you can't run a nice stereo off those little tiny batteries . And not some huge bass system, I'm into sound quality. But that still requires a high powered battery to give it juice, so that's not an option for me. I plan on moving the battery to the rear seat delete when I finish up the stereo. You're right about the heavy gauge wire; my run will be a little less than going to the trunk and move the weight of the battery to the mid-rear of the car. I'm not too concerned about it, but being a V6, it may make it closer to 50/50.
