You need to drive it up to redwood city. or better yet, come to stockton and rescue me from the boringness

 

Weird, I drove another 5 ish miles today, and the gauge is still at the full line (it was pinned up above it yesterday). I can easily say that I haven't been driving... let's say as "politely" as I should be, but I can't help that I love the sound in the higher RPM's. I'm still just shocked it isn't at empty by now. After all the horror stories you hear about how gas is so expensive; realistically you are spending 50 dollars on a tank that could get you ~300 miles. So it's 17 cents per mile. I would be surprised if I drove anywhere close to that in a week just going to school and home everyday. Maybe I'm just rambling, but I'm just glad that I'm still a LOT better off than a lot of people I know mileage wise.

 

25 miles i without the guage moving is common on a lot of cars. some cars can be like 40 miles.

 

dont be surprise if at first the guage doesnt move for awhile then all of a sudden moves alot and fast lol

 

Ouch. That is only somewhat scary... 30 miles with very little movement. Anyone else around here with a 94/95 to compare mileage?

 

The factory gauges aren't precise or linear, for lack of a better term. I usually fill my tank to full (when the fuel nozzle automatic shut-off clicks) and my gauge reads above "F". Once the needle finally moves below it after 25-30 miles, it starts moving downward - fast. Using E10 doesn't help either. Eh, but don't sweat it unless you plan on doing a lot of driving.

 

with the price of fuel right now, it just makes it worse. I know I sit at home alot more(which is ok cause I have alot of work that I need to do here) then I used to.

Thats about what I get with normal/agressive driving. If I really try I can get 300 or a bit more, but most of the time I'm in the 200 range.

If you keep driving the fun way though, expect lower

 

When I fill up my car, and I pack it full, just so I dont have to fill it up as much; I can sometimes go up to 150 miles without going below full, it just depends on what you're doing. I'd say 175ish would be about right for this tank. If you're at 50 at 3/4, and it was over full for as long as it was, then the other quarters wont have the same.

 

My gauge never goes more than 30-40 before dropping below full, thats nuts

 

you guys are only getting 200 miles per tank? I thought that I had a lead foot, you guys must be nuts! I have 600hp and 60# injectors, and i get between 250-275

 

you also have an extra gear

Thats so weird, I have to try to get that kind of mileage.

 

If I baby my 89 Vette I can get 29 mpg and carbon up the engine too, but if I put my foot in it, the mpg drops to 21-22 mpg in a hurry. The Ferrari gets about 4-6 mpg but I guess you dont have a Ferrari for mpg exactly, Just wish I could open it up for what it is built for. I find if I back my foot up off of the throttle a bit , it does make alot of difference, but saying this makes me feel so not like the hot rodding car guy I am and some sort of tree hugging traitor.
One guy told me what he is doing is instead of going on longer cruises, He makes fast pasts in the country and comes back and parks the car, he is using it I guess for what they are built for.

 

I'm at 130 miles with a quarter tank left, but when I filled up (it had been on empty) it only took 11.5 gallons. Does that mean that there is 4 gallons left under the E? Of course I'm not going to test it out, but it would make a lot more sense to think I've gone 130 miles in 8.625 gallons (15mpg) than... just under 10mpg. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

 

my 1999 GT i used to average around 240 miles a tank. horseing around usually 200 even.

 

I estimate around the same with my 1992 5.0 LX w/auto. You'd think there would be some marked improvement in mileage by then.

- Did you give the SN95 a basic tune up: fresh plugs, wires, distributor cap/rotor, and the various filters? It may help increase your mileage a bit.
