Well today I am off to Infineon again to catch another race, Arin-less this time though.

The tires that I just got have so much grip that I can only get them to chirp when I drop the clutch... and I get a ton of the wonderful burnt clutch smell that comes along with it. Oh well, better too much grip than no grip....

How new is the clutch? could be a worn clutch.

 

I have no idea how old the clutch is because... well I bought the car over a year ago now, but I've only been driving it since late April. The clutch has always been a big question mark to me, because it doesn't slip under normal use, but under any sort of aggressive driving it always ends up smelling burnt. (No, it is not just me and my bad driving skills, I've let a lot of people who know how to drive well... drive pretty fast) Also it only engages at about an inch or an inch and a half from when it is fully engaged. When I drove Arin's car it was basically at the friction point when you lifted the clutch off of the ground. My clutch is also very, very heavy. It isn't bothersome to me, and I rather like the feeling that this is a car that you have to drive rather than just ride in. It's just very odd.

 

Another little thing that is beginning to irk me: when my car is warmed up, and I try to make a sharp turn (full lock) without any gas the car dies. Any ideas as to what the problem is? It doesn't do this when cold. Too much power steering fluid?

And one more while I'm at it. (This goes with the clutch thing) While I was on my spare whenever I braked going towards a stop sign I would put my car in first with the clutch fully disengaged. When I did that though, it would make the spare stop repeatedly and it sounded like ABS was trying to keep it from locking up, but my foot wasn't on the brake, just coasting. But I thought it was just because the spare can't keep up with the other wheel, since the other wheel was rotating faster. Well now it does the same with my new tires... What gives?

Mine did something like that. I had a MIL, checked it and it was the left 02 sensor, of course i changed both of them. I also had two broken vacum lines. Check if you have a stored MIL code, and your vacum lines. Start from there.

 

Cleaned up my front wheels today. It was very painful, and very difficult, but I think that it was worth it. I hope to paint them whenever Arin gets his butt down here.

I know you has a rental car. I'm liking white more and more. Especially on the inside. It looks trick to see how clean it is in there. On the same hand I think it is very rice esque... but still. Black spokes, silver lip should look sick.

Since technically I painted all those bits, I feel I can answer

Krylon Rust-Tough semi flat black paint. It;s also what the black on my '76 is. Good stuff. If you wanna black stuff out, its a great way to go

 

Yeah i'm actually thinking about doing a hood like petes and doing a black out panel in the back like a 69 boss 302 or sum thin all the way across the license plate area, up to the top of the taillights. Of course after i get a set of 96-98 stock taillights

 

that would be pretty cool. We've thought about doing that on Pete's too.

Also... am I the ONLY person that likes the 94-95 tailights? lol
