Full Billet Switch Plates:...Please...
No sweat - while you could go powdercoat, I'd guess that enamel will be a better match to some of the rarer colors. Maybe some custom airbrushing while still letting the metal work show through would be nice...
Working on the top side next week. Oh, and the picture shown is for the coupes, we know the driver's side is different for the vert's, and have it drawn up to run too.

They replace the entire switch plate, they don't "cover" anything. I really wouldn't have it any other way
They actually are a work of art from the bottom, but of course installed you won't see all the work that goes into the back side...
The third picture above gives you a good idea of the basics of how the piece looks on the side currently, but it's not done yet.

Wednesday teasers are up!
LOL
I couldn't resist! Here's a picture with close to the familiar "cow paint" but it is the topside of an actual piece in-process. It's not a complete piece, but it's 3/4 of the way there. Fit is looking good, finish will be excellent, and as usual I'm sweating details like "radius the corner of the chamfer or let it be "diamond" / facet cut... - we're going to have them at SEMA though, so it's close now.

So none of you guys like the 3-stripe ball cuts down the center? Without it the top of the part ends up pretty plain, although not having them there makes sanding easier...heck, eliminating work on our end is always welcome, but I just don't know if the part has any style without them. There's more to do yet, the sides aren't done, but that's coming by the end of the week.
Since you guys all want them, then let's put it to a vote. Up or down on the center stripes. Vote here, vote now, and affect the design of the part for everyone else!
There will not be an "option" with or without them - there will only be coupe and convertible options in satin, polished, and chrome finishes. So most votes wins, no Chicago-style "vote early, vote often" tactics either!

I vote no stripes, but a nice pony or a GT engraving on anodized or brushed alu would looks awesome. Plus engraving is a hell of a lot quicker than the machining of stripes. Plus you can have the ponies match the original outside pony on the sixers.
Any info on price? Put me down for a set in brushed alu or satin.

I vote no stripes, either chrome or polished. If you want a artistic element to them, perhaps just a slightly recessed rectangle and triangle in the areas that currently have the stripes maybe 1/8" from the edge of the piece.

Pony - no dice. Trademarks and all...
Price - these are not going to be inexpensive. We're starting with 8 Lbs of 6061-T6 aluminum to make one pair, and we're looking at quite a bit of cycle time + fixture development to get everything done on them. I don't have a good answer yet, and until I do , I'd rather not say for certain. I can say that they will probably be over 100.00 / pair, as there is a lot to them.
Finishes most likely will be
Satin bright (IUP match)
Polished / Clear Anodize (steering wheel spoke match)
Triple Chrome (Instrument / A/C Register match)
I can't see doing them in black, but we could always run a couple sets if people ask, just would take extra time trhough finishing.
My only concern with "not" doing the stripes is that there is a lot of real estate there with nothing going on if you don't. The stripes "narrow" up the part and give it a longer appearance without being any longer.
That would look cool - I could see that. Problem would be sanding after machining would be a nightmare like the recess in our fuel doors - finishers still hate me over that one...

. Without stripes and in satin would probably look like the painted ones to the average joe.
