Full Billet Switch Plates:...Please...
Ok, the reason I'm starting this thread is I think somebody needs to make a Billet switch plate. Not the tape-on thin plates mind you that are already out there, but a real replacement for that plastic piece. I know the part comes off and some people paint them, but I would like to see this as one solid Billet plate in chrome and or satin for those who would like that. If that piece can come off, there's gotta be a way to make a replacement part in metal. I think George from MGW mentioned he might look into this, but it may be hard to do. It would be incredible looking if somebody could do this. I think the door just crys out for some bling accents. Ford had the right idea with the satin door handles, but alas, didn't go far enough with more interior treatments. Good thing we have the guys at MGW and Silverhorse Racing making some great stuff.
I don't think that would be very easy at all. You would have to machine it in a way to make the "indentations" for the window switches, hence why all the companies do a "stick-on" flat piece that goes AROUND the switches
Too hard
You probably right. i don't know how much it would cost per pair, but I'd be willing to $300 bucks a pair. It might be so difficult that even that amount would be too low. I almost feel like commissioning a part, but I'm sure that would cost thousands.
I feel the same, will be painting them when it gets warmer but full billet replacements would be far better and Im not affraid to say I would PAY for those, a good chunk too, as I know how much materal that would use
I still doubt it would happen. The only person that I could imagine doing it would be marcello at SHR, because he active in the mustang community at listening to customer's ideas and produces products accordingly. George at MGW is also good at listening and making unique products for the cars, too.
I would see if Marcello chimes in here. If he says it do-able, and sees that there is interest, he may just do it.

I cant see them coming in at less than $300, there s alot of machine work in those to come made from billet and its a decent sized chunk too, depth looks like the problem for materials, not saying I still wouldnt be interested, I just can see why no one has jumped on it yet
They are coming - mostly because I don't like the "stick on" ones I have in my own car.
I have the material to start prototyping them, but we have to get the darn deluxe door handles running first. We were at the shop until 1:00am tonight again trying, they are soooo close, 3 of the 4 operations are done and working, the fourth is just a fixturing nightmare.
So soon. And there will be a drop-top and coupe version, and they will re-use the factory switches - not that I've done any homeowrk on this or anything
I would expect late spring the way things are going around here right now with the quarter-louvers and everything else.

Ha, well at least I made someone's night....
Let's see how patient you are - this door handle fiasco has only been going on "on and off" for two months or so now...
Of course, when you end up with one or two nights a week to play with it due to everything else going on, it can take a while.
Ok, signing off for the day - off to window shop tomorrow

Painted mine. Prep, Vinyl Paint, Satin clear finish. Easy as 123. And now if your not satisfied with the outcome of your own handywork. We don't have to order replacements from FORD. Marcello is getting it done for us.
ONCE AGAIN!! SHR Rocks!!!
ONCE AGAIN!! SHR Rocks!!!
Awesome!
This is great news Marcello! I plan to pick a chrome set of either your traditional or deluxe door handles and a chrome switch plate would be great. Made my day. Good luck with it when you get started.

Seriously though,I bought UPR's covers and took them off after 1 day.I hated them. They scratched so freakin easy too.In fact they came scratched
A full piece would be awesome
