yay

good job rfbandit

It's such an easy mod. I've had it for 4 months now and started it hundreds and hundreds of time without a hitch. I did get a relay though to make it more robust. Haven't put that in yet, probably on Sunday.

Anyone in the Los Angeles, CA area with this mod. I would love to have this done but not sure of half of the stuff you guys are talking about.

Go back through the thread, post a question while quoting anything you have a question on. I'll try and simplify it if it helps you out. Good luck.

I've read all the posts and just wanted to get a clear answer. If I hook it up this way do I still have to push the clutch in to crank the engine over ? Or will it crank when ever the key is on (12v to button) I don't want to bypass the clutch safety,so is there a different way to hook it up.
Thanks

Yes, you will still have to push the clutch in to start. The button will work just like turning the key to start. I have an auto, but if you turn your key without pushing the clutch, it won't start. If you push the button without pushing in the clutch, it won't start. You don't need to bypass the clutch safety and I would never recommend that. Hope it works out for you, I love mine. It has been a source of fun in many ways.

Somebody brought up in the Project Source Horse section that after they put their button in that the oil gauge stopped working properly, causing an "oil pressure low" message to pop up on the message center. Has anybody else had this problem? I've always had this problem but never associated it with the start button.

I'm the one that posted it, and I've learned how to prevent it from hitting low oil pressure message

When you crank the key to the on position, if you watch the oil pressure needle, it'll go down 1/4 of the way and will go back to the low pressure spot. If you hit the start button at the 1/4 mile point b4 it goes back up, then the message will never come up.

Its difficult to explain, maybe if I did some picture info or video info would help

I did what you describe and it works.

When you turn the key it takes a few seconds for the oil pressure to start comming up. It peaks at about 1/4 of the way, then moves back down again.

I was on the way to the dealer across the street to make an appointment when I realized I was only 1000 miles into a synthetic oil change. I don't want to pay $50 to change my oil then have the dealer drain it out when they take my car apart. I'll take it in when it gets closer to 3000

I don't think this has anything to do with the start button.

I posted on this exact problem a while ago.
http://forums.bradbarnett.net/index....opic=27176&hl=
I noticed it with my push button, but then I tried it with the key and on an 05 without the button and it still gave me the low pressure warning. You can actually see the oil gauge turn red if you have the IUP (and the lights on) gauges. It seems to depend on how long you wait with the key in the run position before you start it. I think it is just a quirk of the system and not a problem. My service advisor checked other 05's and they all did the same.

That's good to know. It seems Dustin and I were right... nothing to do with the button. Just another minor issue with the '05. Thanks.

So is it just the gauge that messes up or is there actually low oil pressure?

I believe that there is actually low oil pressure. (right at startup, until the pump build up) Someone said that when they turn their key to run, the oil guage rises but then starts to fall to 0. The other one's I looked at did that also. If you don't delay in turning from run to start, then you get no low pressure warning. If you delay going from run to start and the guage falls low, then you get the warning. I believe it is just a matter of timing between the gauge, sending unit, and message center. I've seen it on enough other Stangs not to worry too much about it. It kind of freaked me out the first couple of times though...

I installed the kit from 50resto.com this past weekend and it was a fairly easy install. I'm not that good when it comes to these things but the kit had everything I needed which helped a lot.
