This press release is nothing more than an advertisement to try to get somebody to buy those left over 2004 Cobras that are still sitting on dealer lots.


Also, I agree with those who said a lot of people are jumping to conclusions. HTT is the head of SVT, not Team Mustang. So when he says there will be a SVT introduction @ the NYC auto show, it could be anything, not even a Mustang. So don't be dissappointed if you see the new SVT Focus or a Lightning concept and not the 07 Cobra in NYC.

Yea but Mike did NOT say that the SE Mustang was going to be a SVT Mustang. In fact what I rememeber of his comments was that the SE Mustang was NOT going to be a SVT product.

If I am correct, SVT was pushed by Ford into shelving the L, making one vehicle at a time, and that they were going to concentrate on the Cobra right now. I wouldn't expect to see anything else from SVT but a Cobra unless Ford had a change of heart.

Where exactly does it state this? In the article this thread is based upon, it only states An SVT version of the Mustang will debut. I persoanlly have not seen 1 thing that says SVT Cobra to be unveiled.

The issue here is Ford/SVT are releasing the SVT Mustang, regardless of whether or not it is called Cobra. This will be the release of the Top Mustang. I don't care if they call it the SVT Mustang Inch Worm, it is still the hot one.

yea so we will all be shocked if it aint a Cobra. But if it's an SVT Mustang, you can be almost positive it's a Cobra!
That would be wild if the next Cobra was a Shelby too. Not sure I like that idea.

They said "an SVT version". Don't people think it's odd that he wouldn't bluntly say it was the Cobra, if it was supposed to be the Cobra? Why would Ford hide the name unless it was going to be an actual surprise?

This pure speculation with no basis in anything, but I'm predicting we'll see a new SVT-Shelby joint venture, the 2007 Shelby Mustang GT-460. And after a year or two, they'll roll out a sibling, the GT-540 B) With superchargers on each.

That's where I think we're going. The Cobra name itself may end up laying completely dormant for a while, too, if Shelby is coming back into the fray, which we all know he is in some way or another.

That link shows 2004 debuts. Not 2005 so I think that what SVT will be revealing is their top of the line Mustang whether it is called SVT SpongeBob or Cobra. I think that what is going to be shown will be very close if not exactly to the production version of SVTs Mustang.

Just because HTT neglected to include the "Cobra" name in his remarks doesn't mean there was any dark nefarious reason for the omission.

It will be the Cobra - too much brand cache for Ford to chuck the name.

I love the internet - where rumors and speculation become urban legends.

Now this is from a show I saw on SPEED, Shelby himself said that they (FORD) was going to be coming out with a 400-500 HP cobra mustang. But he didn't say when, or if he did I didn't catch it.

You're a year behind. What's on that NYC auto show link you provided is what was debuted @ NYC last year.
