Some of yall are nuts, 160 on America's roads. I'd be a little scared to do that speed on the autobahn, but definately wanna go try it out one day. I'd also like to drive a Veyron on that test track thats curved and banked so that the driver just has to keep the wheel straight, and floor it. Top speed for me...95, cuz I was getting run over by about 50 cars on I95, soon as I could I slowed back down to my 5 over the limit. Can't afford another ticket, stupid truck with no speedo...

Just about two days ago and got the Xcal 3 and was able to get to 125 until I ran out of road. I was going to dare take it on I10 so I had to settle for some back roads. Just wish I was in Germany though to see what I could do on the autobahn.

yea tell us BULLITT995

i dont have an S197 but in my car on 421 i've had the needle burried with the hood scoop about to fly off. it was me, a 97 cobra, honda civic, and an 07 eclipse GT. all of them except the cobra, which was right beside me, were left in the dust! About a mile from my exit we slowed down to 115 and saw the blue lights come on, so being the ******* that i am i punched it and got off on my exit and whipped it into the wendy's parking lot & turned off the car and got sometihng to eat haha and the guy never did get us.

Stock minivan tires? I don't know of any minivans that come equipped with Ultra High Performance All Seasons. They are ZR tires with a W rating, good for 168mph.

Well I've only had this one in the 130's because of the hood. Really not much use going that fast on streets these days with the police being so tight around here. Had a buddies R1 north of 160 not to long ago though.

Yes, the hood is really a problem. Normally it's beginning to dance from 70mph.
I've installed hood struts, a thick rubber stripe at front for sealing hood and additionally I have adjusted the hood hinge.
With these things applied, i've reached the 145mph with minimal hood vibrations on a german autobahn.

~140 MPH on I-5. I may have gone a tad faster but I was concentrating so much on driving at the time I just briefly glanced down and saw the needle hit 140 and let off. Kinda wanted to burry the needle completely, was a very safe, unocupied section but got the jitters about cops, blow outs ect.

No hood flutter at all. I would say it would have run out of steam completely at 150 mph, post 120 you could feel the car stop pulling hard.

I've read that stock these cars are drag limmited to ~148 mph and I believe thats true.

I've been over a 100 mph a few times when I first got the car, but took it to 132 mph only once. Was still in 4th gear going uphill and the speed was still climbing. A little turbo Dodge Neon kept buzzin around me when I was doing 70 mph on a pretty empty freeway and I snapped and showed him the back of my car. This was when I still had my 3.55s...got 4.10s now, so I don't know how far up she will go. The hood didn't move at all, but everything was going by so fast, it looked like a game of Burnout 3 when you hit the boost button.

Between the 235 tread patch and the 55 sidewall these things are a joke. They might have a better speed rating than your average minivan, but they're the same size tire that was offered on all of the Freestars that came with 17" wheels.

146 MPH. 5000 RPM in 5th gear with my 4.10s. Was still accelerating well but that's pure craziness on a public road. It was a deserted stretch of highway with no exits or on-ramps on the portion I was driving but it's still pretty crazy and I would never condone such behavior.
The car was perfectly stable though including the hood. It felt like it had lots left but I don't care to find out exactly how much.

I buried the speedo the first week I got the car on the Turnpike at 3AM, that was when it was bone stock so I'm not sure what it would do now. Doubt I'll ever go that fast again, especially without my front sway bar

Im wondering WHY Ford put a 140 speedo in our cars while a car like the SRT-4 has one that goes up to 160...

Because Ford is realistic and doesn't try to sell cars hoping that someone with an automotive IQ of 14 will not see the speedo and think it can actually go that fast. A friend of mine has a Jeep Liberty with a speedo that goes to 240 kph (150 mph). Like that thing has snowball's chance in hell of ever getting past 110 mph.

120+ outside Atlanta, open, rural, no cars..

got a 99 in a 55 on the perimeter(I-285 around Atlanta)....

I don't usually drive that fast but I gunned it to pass 3 people cruising in the fast lane, cop was set up in a perfect position. Went to court, got it knocked down to 78.

I don't do more than 20 over anymore....if you're from Atlanta, you know that's the norm on several roads.
