Did it come with a ****? If so, was it the chromed one or did you buy a white ball instead?

That shifter looks like the stock flimsy one. I have the Tri Ax, and its a work of art. I put a modified Hurst stick on it with a polished T handle and it feels great! I highly recommend the T handle.

I might as well give my review in this thread....As I said quiet, except for a very solid "clunk clunk" as you enter each gear( this is the only noise this shifter makes that I hope will go away, it sounds more like a gearhead car than an everyday cruiser is the best way I can descibe it, you need to shift this shifter with much more effort than the stock one, and it almost seems like it is going to get stuck but it never does. i was banging gears all the way home, nice, the 2 to 3 problem is gone also, even at full throttle and shifting very fast. I'm hoping it will wear in and require less effort down the road, in other words I would like it if it was a little more sloppy/ smooth, this shifter will not be for everyone , that is for sure!
They advertise 45%shorter throw, absolutely accurate, If you want to compare to stock...center of the ball to center of the ball, 1st to 2nd about 2 inches of travel about half as much as stock, the shifter height is also about 2" higher than stock.
1 more day of driving with this Hurst and I will be in love, i am already getting used to it !
Direction corrections and Tips
I will say the instructions were not to bad, i have seen much worse, but , for having 6 months to bring this thing to market, they should have been perfect, IMO
*Item 5/ page 1, Factory shifter removal...take note on how you take off the inner dust boot and what it covered, because when they instruct you at the end to put it back on, they only tell you to make sure the lip catches the floor correctly, they make no mention the make sure the very bottom envelopes the shifter body like it did when you took it off.
*page 2/removal of of factory shifter...remove metal braket from rear mount now, before you try and get it out thru the floor.
* page 2 / item 11/ removal of factory shifter..it says to remove 2 metal flange sleeves, my factory shifter only had one!
*Item 1/ page 2/Hurst shifter installation.. as above do not put the bracket on until you get it back down thru the floor. Also in item one, they say to insert the 2 metal flange sleeves you took out of the factory shifter, as i said I only had 1.
* page 3/ item 2...they are saying to tighten the jam nut with a 9/16 wrench, it turned out to be a15mm wrench.
Other than the above , the directions were pretty good and I would rate this as a reasonably easy install....
GOOD LUCK and happy :drive:

When you get a chance Dave, could you note what was inaccurate in the instructions?
That shifter is going to make a nice b-day present for me next month!

I am sorry if this has basically been asked already, but is it possible to simply mount a hurst stick and ball on the stock Mustang shifter assembly? I just want the stick and ball. Don't care about shorting the throw or anything else.
DiamondBlue, I have pics back on page 4. And to davids2toys, your description sounds a lot like the Tri Ax. I dont have any particularly bad noise or vibration problems. I have the Thunk-thunk thing, but I think thats more of an issue with the tranny than the shifter. And mine was stiff, especially in 1/2 or 5/R, but I loosened up the shift nut and that helped a lot. You might try that as well. Neither shifter should be an unclean female dog to shift. Finally to pumpkinhead. NO you cant bolt a Hurst stick on the stock shifter unless you do some cutting and welding on it. The handle isnt really removeable. But you CAN mount a T handle on it. You will have to make the boot fit this arraingement, tho. But all in all, since the Hurst is cheaper than the Steeda, if I had it to do all over agin, I'de probably go with the Hurst.

D2Toys
Like I need prompting to spend money on my car...$4000 and counting....
Looks cool. The only thing that I would change is to make the ball wood grain instead of black or white. Where would I get that? :bang:

This shifter is far from flimsy, trust me, in fact it will take me a few days just to get used to how solid this thing feels,

Definitely getting one of those shifters myself, as well as two of those "Hurst equipped" badges - will put one badge on the right side of the dash, and the other on the trunk just above the taillight. And if the shifter comes with Hurst stickers, I'll stick one of those in the rear side window.

I put my emblems just where you want to put yours, also 1 on each side of the car right under the GT emblems, 4 total
