Pictures of Hurst shifter
I finally got around to taking some pictures of the prototype Hurst short throw shifter in my 05 GT. The handle I currently have on the car is moves the shifter ball a few inches taller than the stock **** and about 1 inch closer to the drivers side. It feels alot better than stock. I can now shift the car with a coke in the cup holder. You can bolt other Hurst sticks on it to achieve different hights and offsets. The chrome stick matches the chrome bezels around the gauges and A/C vents. The shifter feels great, it has a shorter throw and feels very presice. Hurst has not actually released these yet but the guys at Hurst tell me these units will be available soon.

It looks different, I look foward to see more and more aftermarket shifters coming out. I'm not sure if I will switch so soon though.

IMO - Sure looks good! Any comments more on how it "shifts" compared to the stock unit. From some other thread(s) I think people were saying the stock unit needed improvement from 2nd to 3rd. Thanks
Even though the handle is longer than stock the throw is still shorter. The hurst guys moved the pivit point up so you dont have to move the handle as far. Also the shifter features a spheracle bearing instead of a ball and cup design so it is has less slop than the steeda shifter. The unit in my car is a prototype. the production model will have a slightly shorter stick and around a 35% reduction in throw compared to stock. Oh yea, the Hurst guys are saying they will sell it for less than the steeda unit.
WOW! That is great looking
From your comments, it appears that it is a complete unit, not just the stick/handle. That seams odd since I looked on the Hurst website and they only list a handle for the earlier Mustangs, not the complete shifter. Did I miss something? Also, did they tell you when it was going to be available? Thanks,

Why's it call you a V6 member when you own the GT?

I dont know how quick they will get this unit to market. Anyone wanting additional information could contact the Hurst product manager at 216-688-8300. The cool thing about hurst is they offer many different sticks with different hiegths offsets and finishes. If someone wanted a longer or shorter handel they could buy one inexpensivly. Hurst also offers different ***** in different colors and sizes. You can download the Hurst catalog at http://go.mrgasket.com/Catalogs.aspx?brandId=2 . It has a list of the handles in the back of the catalog.
