I think I have found the perfect exhaust...I think
Mine should arrive today and then I'll let you know what I think... If I don't like them, I'll sell them again... It's worth it on the way to the perfect sound.
Well...I have changed my mufflers again in that never ending search for the perfect exhaust sound from these cars. Let me give you my exhaust history:Stock exhaust for 8 months

Added Borla Stingers to stock cats for 1 year

Went to Mac Prochamber with stock cats for 1 year with Borla's
Went to offroad Mac Prochamber with Borla's for 2 days

Added OBX longtubes, removed Prochamber and running GTA's.
... I am running OBX longtubes,Obx H-pipe.
This is my 4th set of mufflers, third midpipe, and now longtubes...this is the best sounding to date for me. Only time will tell.

10-4 Good buddy.
BUT...I think this setup might be the exception of the rule
Kooks LTs, O/R X, Magnapacks

That does sound good. I believe there are a number of good sounding setups out there as far as how they sound to the general public. But that is only 50% of the puzzle to me. It must be acceptable inside the car also. Meaning I want to hear my radio and be able to talk to a passeger with cruising without yelling. Getting it right both outside and inside has been the quite a feat. I believe that balance is what I now have with the Magnaflows.
At present I see no reason to custom build a prochamber. The reason for the prochamber is to lower the tone. The Maggies did that quite well on their own.
Gotcha... thats what I was wondering.

Wanted to post an updated vid of my new found exhaust tone. To update others not in the know. I am running OBX longtubes..H-pipe and Magnaflow mufflers. Here are 2 vids taken in the same garage, same camera and same car. Both vids are at cold start up. The first is 15 minutes after I installed the Maggies. The second vid is of a cold start up after 500 miles of break-in. I think you can hear the difference. They are getting louder...meaner...and best part is they still have "NO DRONE"!!!

Here is cold start with Maggies cold but brand new!!

Here is cold start with Maggie's after 500 miles on them.

I took this second vid because I thought in the last week they seemed to be getting louder to me. I can hear the difference in the vids.

I'm pretty sure you will get over the lm's if you got over the stingers. After you get over the lm's give the pypes mid muffler a shot. If you were somewhat happy with your stingers you would love these!
Oh i'll just send a PM

Scott, after listening to your latest sound clip. I now understand why you upgraded to the Maggies. As they definitely sound perfect with your OBX longtubes.
IMHO, it seems to me that you've finally located the sound quest, in which you've been searching for.

Rocky,
I do not believe you will get the same results with the cats in place...regardless of brand. I do however believe you will get similiar results with any offroad H-pipe. I know some will disagree with me that the longtubes make the exhaust sound that much meaner over the offroad H-pipe but I don't think that is the case!! Just my experience. This is just one man's opinion but it is an honest one!
