I think I have found the perfect exhaust...I think
do you think the OBX mid-pipe w/ the resinators would help cure the trumpets????

At this point I will assume you are talking about the H-pipe that comes with the OBX headers that has a reasonators in it. And the answer would be NO. That is what is on the car at present. It does nothing as far I am concerned and am still convinced that when you lose the cats...and go to longtubes on these cars you need to put a muffler on the car that has a little backpressure. I have no trumpets...and no drone.with this setup. I can't say I have done the most exhaust mods on this site but I think I am in the front runners at least!!

I still think the PMMS is one of the best sounding exhausts on these 3V motors, BUT not when you loose the cats or add LT's.
It was way too loud & didn't sound very good anymore. My current setup is about 1/2 as loud as with the PMMS on. I changed it out after 1 week.
I wanted headers & the power gain was a benifit as well. Below 3500, this setup actually sounds similar to the PMMS, just a little louder.
After installing the Pypes MM I picked up +6rwhp/rwtq. This was going from a JBA long-tube header, off-road h-pipe and MAC axle back setup to the Pypes MM cat-back. No other changes! and it sounds great!!

Hey Matt..
The difference between you and Larry's setup would be the cats. With his OBX longtubes and H-pipe it sounded more like a Harley than a Stang. The cats make all the difference. Like I said earlier in this thread. I really believe you need to keep some kind of back pressure on these systems to make them sound acceptable. You did it with your cats. I did it with the Magnaflows and Tom281 did it with resonators on his Borla's. Do you see the pattern??

You gave up your MAC's for that????
Everybody has their own tastes & opinions. Thats why we each mod our own rides as we prefer.

You're right and I'm sorry about that. We do have our own tastes. I've just been thorough sooooo many different exhaust setups and am finally happy. Feels good.

No problem, no offense taken. Your vid does sound very similar to what mine was with the LT's & mid-muffler setup. 30yrs ago, I was driving a 70 Boss 302 with LT's & Cherry Bombs, very loud & I loved it. Today I have different tastes.
On my 4th exhaust combo myself, just gonna stick with this for now, until I hear something in person that I like better.

I'm having trouble getting my 8mm vids onto the computer... and my regular digital cam won't friggin' zoom in or out now while filming. I'm starting to look at a new digital camcorder.... My best bet will be next Friday during the private track rental day, if Kim can come she'll take some vids. Then you'll hear a real exhaust running 11s at the track.
