I guess I can add to the list now.

Best time 13.4400 @ 106.93 (1/4)
Best reaction time .0579

My first run was .6490 reaction, and 14.2090 @ 79.49, so I'm thrilled with the first day learning experience. Now, back to the garage.

79.49? Did you forget to floor it? 14.2 doesn't seem right for that mph

Like I said, it was my first time... I wasn't sure where to stop and I let off - actually braked when I saw the line. What can I say? I was a complete noob and a little nervous.

I didn't catch on till the third run - and that time I got a little surprise when the back end got a little loose going into third. I had never done that before. It was a blast, although I learned what the 'wheel hop' thing was.

Avaraged 13.0 for last weekend but my best run was Sunday morning.

Track sucks, it is on an airport taxiway, on ashphalt and zero prep (no VHT). Sitting at about 1250ft and the track is on an incline for about 3-4 meters from start to finish. So with that going against us, I'm pretty happy on the results as it was the first time I ran with this set-up. Now I have to wait until June when they run again.

.35 - R/T
1.79 - 60'
8.242 - 1/8 ET
83.80 - 1/8 MPH
10.76 - 1000'
12.893 - 1/4 ET
105.39 - 1/4 MPH

Made my first run today...was expecting more based on the above slips.

Mods: Auto trans bren 87 tune, GMS CAI and FRPP mufflers:

r/t .176
1/8 10.07 @ 76.13
1/4 15.16 @ 99.05

I was staged next to heavily modifed (no mufflers) car and I could not hear my car shift or anything.

I will say it was 6:30 and still very light and about 94 deg. F. Track about 2600 ft.

Cool vids!!!! I should be at around #6, but it looks like the list needs to be updated. There's some pretty good times that haven't been added to the list yet.

This was my first time ever on a track.

I did 4 runs.

My first was best, but still way slower than I expected even taking my

*novice* track driving into consideration.

I had in the back of my mind a road and track issue that had a 2006 GT/CS tested as posting a 13 sec. 1/4 @ 103.

After having been to the track, I don't see how this could be possible with t a stock car.

My 1/4 time was 14.39 @ 99.51

A lot can be gained from reaction time and takeoff technique, but a whole second for a stock GT gained over mine?

I realize my driving skills will improve, but this just shocked me a little.

Am I being reasonable/rational?

Oh yeah, I had a great time and ran beside a guy in a nice 2004 Red GT who was real helpful prior to pulling up into the lanes.

He beat me on each of my final 2 runs, by 2-3 lengths maybe?

Thanks

Dude. You want to know why you aren't running fast? Take a look at the number to the right of "60ft."

2.3918 seconds. For all intents and purposes, that's 2.4 seconds.

A decent 60ft is 2.10. A good 60ft is 2.00. An excellent 60ft is 1.9x.

For every .10 of a second you shave off your 60ft time, expect to improve your 1/4 mile time by .15 seconds. You're leaving about .50 a second on the table just getting out of the hole.

Launch at 3500-4000rpm, and slip the clutch coming out of the hole. That will fix about 90% of the problem. Shift right before the rev limiter kicks in at 6200rpm. Take out the spare tire, jack, and breaker bar from the trunk. Inflate front tires to 45psi.

I promise you that you will get a 13.70 out of it. There is nothing wrong with your car, it's just the first 2 seconds of your run is totally ruining it.

Takes a few times of going to get used to launching, and the procedure. Stay consistent, do the same thing everytime, and if you change something just change ONE thing at a time. Remember to adjust the rear air pressures too. Start at 30psi and work your way down. I found the best traction with 26psi in the left rear and 27 in the right rear.

Don't do a gigantic burnout with radials. Drive around the waterbox, and do a quick peel out/dry hop to clean the tires off. Roll up SLOWLY into the staging beams. When the first one goes on, STOP. Then creep it slowly forward until the 2nd light illuminates, then STOP immedietly. This will help your ET a bit too, as it gives you a mini "running start" twoards the beams.

Best of luck. I ran a 13.69 stock, and there was more left in it. It's there, you just have to go get it out.

Thanks .

That's why I come here.

The advice and suggestions from those who have "been there done that" is worth it's weight in gold.

Yeah I noticed the reation time was crap , although maybe decent for my first time under a tree.

I noticed later on that Ii cut the time down to .465 but that was on a run where i missed thrid and my 1/4 was over 15 secs.

So 60 ft time is directry proportional to reaction time and simply hooking up?

Gotta go..... will maybe try it again next Friday night.

Thanks again.

Reaction time does not effect your ET. Timer doesnt start until you leave the line
