I swapped on a set of Corsas yesterday and was surprised by how quiet they were. My stock exhaust had a nice tone to it, particularly after getting it tuned when it seemed to get a little more raspy. The Corsas seem quieter across the RPM range (not a bad thing for me, I'm no noise junkie) and the exhaust tone seems more refined.

One thing's for sure, getting the Corsas in was a lot easier than taking the stock mufflers out. The drivers side was a real PITA to get out.

ETA: After ~5 months with the Corsas, I'm happy with them. They're NOT quiet, they just needed some runtime to get to their normal tone. No drone at all. Great tone at idle and at WOT. The only thing I'm not grinning about is the strange noise I'll get every now and then on deceleration, can't quite figure that one out.

Ignore my posts about FlowMaster too Loud

Well now that I have my car back from the TSB fiasco and I was able to drive it for awhile tonight I finally know what has been going on the whole time. Apparently the overaxle secion of pipe on the passenger side has been working its way out of the H-Pipe coupling gradually. One of the bolt nuts was loose on the coupler. When I finally found the problem the pipe was more than an inch out of the coupling.
Now that I loosened it up, shoved the pipe to where it should be and retightened, my exhaust sound is fine now. I estimate that it was at least twice as loud before so it wasn't the Flowmasters at all. It was just a coincedence that I started noticing it after the Flowmasters went on.
Now that everything is as it should be I think the Flowmasters are pretty tame and wouldn't mind them a bit louder. The drone is not a problem anymore. It's funny because because it was really much louder with that pipe barely in the coupling and now I kinda miss that sound!

whats the consensus on a catted Mac ProChamber in place of an H or X? How much do they change the sound over stock, or over other X/H pipes? I didn't find to much on these when I searched.

By the way, I think i'm going to upload these clips (the ones I can download at least) to YouTube.

That way we won't have to worry about having them stay hosted, and there won't be any bandwidth problems or anything.

The last two on the list (PowerFlos) were mine... hawgman hosted them for me way back then. Even though I got rid of the PowerFlos over a year ago, I still have the vids. Here are different links for them:

PowerFlos (2005) - Startup-Idle-Rev

PowerFlos (2005) - Burnout

PowerFlos (2005) - On Dyno

Catted pro chamber quiets down the whole system. I was looking for a deeper sound which it did somewhat but it was like adding another muffler to the car. Once I removed the cats WHOOHOO! now we're talking even with stock mufflers it's nice, deep, and grumbles alot.

Maybe I didn't look hard enough, but I couldn't find a clip of a Bassani X pipe with stock mufflers. I'm thinking of going to a catless X and wondering how it would sound with the stock mufflers. I really like the Bassani "sound", but can't really afford a full setup yet, and since the X pipe is cheaper than axlebacks...anyone tried this yet?

favorite Bassani Cat back?

As far as just Bassani goes, which does everyone prefer the SS Race axle back or the regular SS axle back? i've listened to the clips but they are still hard to distinguish. I know its a matter of preference but how would you describe the difference? Which would sound better with a Bassani catted x-pipe? Thanks.

I just installed my Bassani SS exhaust on Saturday.. the actual install is easy but let me tell ya, trying to get those tips to line up is a pain in the rear end.. still can't get it exact.. but anyway, i gotta say it sounds **** good. not a ton louder which is cool but a lot deeper.. sounds a lot meaner! i'm happy

So are the stock cats the biggest sound mufflers besides the axle-back mufflers?
