Either Steeda has the rear O2 sensors turned off or you haven't completed the drive cycle and the monitors haven't turned on yet. I'm in the same boat with my car except I keep getting a misfire on my emissions tune that I have to try and figure out so I can get my car inspected.

What's the drive cycle?

A mysterious thing that you have to complete for the sensors to settle down after you install a tune. In my experience nobody can tell you how long it takes or when it begins and ends. But it's something like 50-100 miles with some stopping and starting involved.

I was going to mention that earlier but was trying to keep it simple. There is also some mystery around why the tuners turn off the rear O2's, and I think it relates to this -- during the drive cycle, you might get the Check Engine light until it settles down, after you install a tune. So they turn things off to suppress that light.

Or something like that; I never really figured out what was the whole story. But I ran into this with my Bama tune and the above is more or less the explanation that I got.

Hopefully Steeda can give a clear explanation, tell you what is going on, and get it straightened out.

Supposedly that is the drive cycle procedure.

From my understanding though you can drive for 15 or 20 minutes at highway speeds and then another 15 or 20 minutes at normal around town speeds. I don't think that there is any set mileage limits, it is more getting everything to perform in a single drive cycle more than anything else.

There is not an emissions tune available.

You can;t run the CAI without a tune without the insert but you could put the stock box on with the stock tune to be sure you pass.

The sensors being enabled will allow you to pass readiness but not necessarily pass emissions.

It is best to call Matt at 1800 950 0774 to discuss further.

Best Regards,

TJ

Normally we do leave the rear O2 sensors on, but on some calibrations we do have to shut them off, for example, if you have long tube headers and off road (no cats).

Like the aforementioned, it is best to give us a call at 1800 950 0774 to discuss.

Best Regards,

TJ

I ended up putting on my Blowfish Racing Fire Extinguisher mount, although I will probably get a slightly larger fire extinguisher in the future.

Then I put on the Blowfish Racing master cylinder brace.

Let me know how the brace works. I saw this when it came out but forgot about it. Curious to hear if you see a difference in pedal feel at the track

Yes, I have wondered about this as well.
I would think that the feel would be negligible. What is the price?

I'm a bit puzzled about how the master cylinder brace is supposed to help with pedal feel. Is the theory that there is deflection of the master cylinder and you get "softer" feeling pedal because seals are taking the load?

Ive heard claims the master cylinder does move and this deflection causes additional pedal travel. I too have a little trouble wrapping my head around this... if that truly happens, i feel like I could set up a camera in the engine bay, and with the car running, mash the brake pedal in my garage to see if there is movement. Should be no difference with the car stationary but on vs at speed and heavy on the brakes right?

Hmm, so the output rod from the vacuum booster is what applies force on the MC tandem pistons. This, and the force of gravity acting on the reservoir are the only 2 major forces acting on the MC. The fluid is pumped through the ESP unit which is all the way in the front of the car.

These factors should not add up to any measurable displacement give the 2 through bolts attaching the MC through the fire wall.

What else would make the MC deflect?

This was the thread on it. At the worst it does nothing, at the best it will help once the brakes get hot and for $90 bucks I figured why not lol

Passed emissions test! Replaced stock intake and tune, ran for a little, bought a diagnostic scanner, confirmed passing all emissions test before actually going to emissions station. Worth investing in diagnostic tool :-) Installed Steeda CAI and tune back, went for test drive (all good). Scanner confirms need to complete drive cycle now :-)

Hey SGwick, good to hear!

So after a few months, how do you like your Steeda intake/tune combo? What do you like, what do you think could use more work. Any strange or unexpected behaviors?

I ask because I've very tempted to try to get the same combo during Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale this fall.

Love the Steeda CAI/tune combo. As proven in my Road Atlanta experience up until my engine overheating issues, steady power curve feel, and quicker accel feel. All plus in my book.

I did have to get used to the sound of the air through the CAI but it's not a negative in terms of being an issue.

The fit was precise and honestly had no issues with assembly and install.

Good luck with the purchase :-)

It would be silly not to!

Happy to help with anything leading up to Black Friday - just let me know

Best Regards,
