yes sir. Those and RE11s are the only things tire rack had in extreme performance summer.

Thanks guys. I think I'm pretty set on those.

I purchased and installed Firestone Firehawk Indy 500, about $190 each, 285/35 19, UHPS. Offered on TireRack. I know a lot of folks say they would never buy Firestone tires, but the price was too good for me not to try. I have track events in March, April & May. I'll post up results/review of the tires. Here's my thread on the tires, with pics, on TMS: https://themustangsource.com/forums/...-500-a-541415/

Anyone using http://usedracingtires.com/ ?

I have bought used tires before - got some great BFG R1's, also a set of heat cycled out R1's that had so so grip (in comparison to new), and recently picked up a great set of barely used Hankook Z214 C51 compound.

Probably will pick up a set of Hoosier R7's from this site later this season.

So I was all set on the RE71R, this was my #1 choice at $302 per tire in 285/35-19...

...and then I saw the price for the Hankook Ventus R-S3 on Tire Rack. $126 for 275/35-19. My tire choice #3 in Extreme Performance Summer category when it was at $260 a pop.

But at this price I could not pass it up. $571 including shipping for a track tire set is what I call a DEAL. Just placed the order.

yes indeed! if I needed tires, that would be very hard to pass up. Heck I'm considering buying a set and I don't even need tires right now, LOL!

Let us know how you like them on the track

Wilco. The top 3 tires in this category are separated by a few tents of a second in the testing I've seen. I'm looking forward to this season!

I was a bit worried about going with a shorter tire, but the difference between this size and 285/35-19 is 0.1 inch. 2.5mm isn't going to make that much of a difference, and at this price I can't say no.

I think the new R-S4 is coming out soon, and I'm happy to take advantage of this deal. I'll post up a quick review once I get these on a road course.

Might be a good idea to grab a set and have it sit around till end of the year!

Well this was fast. I had to rush home at lunch to get the tires inside since it was 33 degrees today. I'm pretty stoked about warmer temps!

Now I wonder what the Ventus R-S4 will be like

Just kidding, my first extreme performance summers. I'm sure they won't disappoint.

The other performance benefit of this tire size is weight reduction. These are each 4lbs lighter than the S04s were. 16lbs of unsprung rotating mass should be noticeable.

Thanks guys! I'm excited to try them out.

Speaking of that, I've started making a tentative track day schedule for 2017.

Did any of you notice that Motorsportsreg.com seems to be blowing up with track days and it's only January?? I swear, it used to be 4-5 events per month at this time a few years back. Now I have 2 full pages of events already, this early in the year. That's a good thing!

Anyway, here is what I'm thinking so far:
1) May 27 or 28, Grattan with 3Balls Racing
2) June 5, Gingerman with CGI
3) June 12, Mid-Ohio with Auto interests
4) August 28, Mid Ohio with 3 *****

Yes, MSR is packed with events. Amazing how many really. Fine with me!!

I've also started registering
April 24 - Limerock park
May 11 - Limerock park (with open track in the late afternoon!)
June 5-6 - Watkins Glen

More to come. Need some warm weather so I can start putting my new parts on!

Not quite on topic, but I got a new sticker for the car. I anticipate ~5hp increase and a solid boost in driver confidence.

Plus I feel I have earned this one now.

Intake on, tuning done, rear wing reworked with a cosmetic CF layer... track day in just over a week! Oil change, rear diff fluid, and tranny fluid later this weekend...

It looks nearly ready!

What's your thought on the tune/intake difference??

For me it wasn't night and day, but when I looked for it I noticed the difference up high in the RPM range. Plus slightly more TQ down low.

Can't really say yet. I've driven about 3 miles with it tuned... I don't expect much for power but I am very excited to have redline bumped. That's going to make a huge difference for me at multiple tracks.

Started learning how to adjust the DA shocks yesterday... gonna take a lot of trial and error as well as note keeping, but the task of making adjustments is super easy at least.

My new rear caliper arrives later and then I'll be comfortable that it's ready enough for track day number 1 of the season!

one unexpected benefit is it really screams at 7000 rpm, good audio indication that it's time to shift
