I should have mine sitting in my Garage, just have to check if all the hardware is there. I was going to put it on my car, but the engine decided to eat up the bearings lol.

Guys, I was thinking of doing a thermostat change (170), coolant w/water wetter to help with cooling (while watching engine temps) since I don't have the money for complete oil/radiator cooler system. Thoughts?

It sucks trying to track a 11-12 car hahaha. I doubt the 170 degree thermostat is really going to help much as most of the people on TMO haven't really recommended it to solve their cooling issues. Plus I believe the computer doesn't even give you full power until the temperature is up to 180 degrees, but I forget the exact temperature. I think you will be better off running the distilled water/ water wetter combo and increased airflow to the radiator than you would be with installing a cooler thermostat.

Matt (Steeda) sent me the new tune after I correctly filled out the tune form today and installed it as soon as I got home. Early yet but start up was problem free, no weird (bouncing) idling and back down to 650rpm with no rough movement. Gone is the on/off throttle application, replaced by super smooth, modulated control :-) I still ran it like I always do on the street (under 3.4krpm) but I can sense the power under the surface more readily. The exhaust sound is definitely deeper but only slightly louder (minimal). Exhaust rumble used to be at or above 3K rpm but now occurrence is more frequent (>2.5K rpm) More feedback in a week. So far I'm very pleased with my Steeda purchase and tuning (Matt) :-)
If you don't mind sharing, what mistake did you make on your form? I just filled mine out and want to make sure I didn't screw it up also.
Thanks!

Thanks bud, appreciate your honesty. I can't wait to have it all on. I ended up requesting the 91 and 93 tunes. I'll start with 91, but first I need to make sure to have 91 in the tank, lol.
It may have to wait till spring though. It's been fairly warm here so I'm still driving the car, but I think next weekend might be it for the year.

Just came across this, heard anything about it? Checked forums and the kit was never mentioned (weird)

I would think that kit would help a lot!
Ford put a larger radiator and oil cooler on the boss 302 and track pack cars to help this.
Don't forget the boss 302 and track pack cars also have a bigger oil pan and run the 5-50w oil as well.

I'm thinking along the same lines as ElkGrove. I think that's the same kit on my car. I was just staring at it yesterday while changing oil. The filter attaches right to it. And along with lager radiator and thicker oil the cooler does a good job keeping the temps in check.
But for this to work you may need the larger radiator as well. 8QT baffled pan is also a good idea.

I have heard that the Boss oil cooler is not the best set-up, some call it the "oil heater." Not sure if that listing is the original Boss style or an upgrade for the Boss. Since it includes an additional radiator, I think it might be an upgrade because I think the issue with the Boss oil cooler is that it uses the normal radiator.
Check out Mishumoto oil cooling setup.
The 5W-50 oil won't reduce the temps at all, but it will stand up to the high temps better.
Sorry if this was covered earlier in thread, I did not read back through the earlier posts, and I suffer from CRS (Can't Remember ****)

^ +1 agreed
Boss owners who track their cars call the OEM oil cooler the 'oil heater', as a joke, of course. I believe this is because it is a very small unit that actually runs the engine oil out of the engine, and past an area exposed to anti-freeze/coolant. I've read that this has the opposite affect of what is intended...if you have hot radiator fluid, you'll heat your engine oil instead of cooling it. The images above are for the more traditional set-up, lines running the engine oil out of the engine, but through a radiator-style unit that allows air to pass through it for effective cooling, then back into the engine.

Wait, now I'm confused.
The kit pictured above, is it what comes stock on Boss and GT TP cars? Radiator and all?
And the kit above is a liquid to air cooler. So hot oil circulates the radiator and get cooled. How is the radiator fluid involved?

But I'm pretty sure, NO, that is not what comes stock on the Boss 302. That kit is actually better than the stock Boss stuff, because the stock Boss uses the normal radiator which actually heats the oil in some situations.
That kit includes a separate heat exchanger, which is the way it really should be done.
I guess it must use a lot more oil, to fill those hoses and the heat exchanger?
I hope I got that right because I don't want to add more to the confusion than I already did.

I am a bit confused too . . . . the name of the kit "Boss 302 oil cooler kit" is what threw me off.

Now I'd just like to understand the concept behind the design with no separate radiator. Does the main radiator have a separate path for oil in addition to coolant?

I just found the unit which came stock with the Boss and TP cars:

Now that I think about it I think it brings in coolant from the radiator to cool the passage between the oil filter and thus cool oil. But this wouldn't be nearly as effective as having a separate radiator to circulate oil.

Sweet! I just scored a used Ford Racing radiator M-8005-MGT (same type used in 302S/FR500S cars) and it just shipped. Just gotta work on that oil cooler kit I posted earlier :-)
