Thanks Tom!

I just beamed him a payment thru Paypal.

After thinking it over, I decided to go with the MATTE BLACK letters! When I open up the hood, I want to send a message that I mean business! No Sissy Mary red fingernail polish look for me, going Sinister all the way!

Exclamation Another Letter Update!

OK, the guy called me and said if any of the "shaker" people wanted 2 sets of letters (1 for the shaker, and 1 for the door) that he would give them the discount price of $20 per set ($40 total). If you order 1 set it is $24.95.

Make sure you tell him the color choices in the Pay Pal order.

I'm going to do the 2 sets... both Matte black.

Hmm what about sissy Mary VB ? You got me thinking now.

Vista Blue (or close to it)
or
Matte Black

Go for the $40 for 2 deal... and get one blue and one matte black. If the blue doesn't look like it will look good on the shaker, then put the blue on the door sill.

I would have gotten those rims in the first place if I knew I was heading in the Mach 1 direction.

Just want to give a shout out to bill for your tips and help. Frpp fits like a glove and sounds really good. It took me 1 hour because of that one bolt on the left side. Its loud and no more girlie car here.

Go for the Sinister look! I just installed my '281' emblems and Matte Black letters on the Shaker shroud will match it perfectly!

I highly recommend this combo!

I'll post a little write-up soon.

Mike, just follow Tom's instructions here and send your payment directly via Paypal. Send money as 'Goods-others'.

Be sure to state what color letters you want in the Paypal notes section.

Shaker scoop emblem installation

Just installed my new '281' emblems on my Shaker scoop.

Bought them from Autobadges.com for $10 each.

I think they look rather nice!

There's different ways of installing decals and emblems, from the one eye method to the measuring tape; I used both.

Also, there's the question of how far forward (or back) should the emblem be on the scoop. The 69/70 Shaker scoops had their CID emblems near the front of the scoop opening and the center reserved for any script emblems (e.g. Cobra Jet). I placed the leading edge of the emblem even with the top center cooling fin/rib. As far as up and down, I just chose it to be closer to the lower half.

Here's how I installed them:

* Wipe the general area where the emblem is to be placed with alcohol.

* Lay down a strip of masking tape perpedicular to the center scoop rib line.

* Place the emblem's forward edge against the masking line using some tape to hold it in place. Up/down location as well as clocking (leveling) should be done at this point as well.

(This is where I spent most of my time scratching my head trying to decide how I wanted the emblem to be clocked. Follow the scoop line or true level? I did both and always stepped back to see how I liked it. What looked good to me was a combination of both.)

* Place another strip of masking tape (perpendicular) over the tape holding the emblem. This will ensure that the emblem will swing back down into the layout position with minimal shifting.

* Lift up the emblem just high enough to remove the 3M backing.

* Swing the emblem back down onto the scoop.

* Apply pressure evenly across the emblem to seat the tape.

Note: Once one side is complete, take some measurements at various spots and duplicate it for the other side to ensure a mirror image.
Emblem is made of plastic, so it can follow the slight contoured surface of the scoop. The corner edge may have a little trouble sticking, but I think once out in the sun and the adhesive heats up a bit you can press down on the corners to have them stick. That 3M tape that's used is some pretty strong stuff.

This simple and inexpesive mod really draws attention to the Shaker scoop (like it already didn't! )

Once the Matte Black letters go on the shroud sills, it'll provide a nice reverse contrast to the 281 emblems. I think they'll look way cool together!

I just a acquired a CDC Classic Chin Spoiler!

Mike is selling me his for $200 compared to the CDC price of $320 ($270 + $50 shipping). Not as good of a deal as Bill's, but I'll take it!

That's what Tom and I do best! You may as well hand over your Paypal acct to us and we'll take care of the rest.

Good going! You weren't too far from my deal ($180 after paint).

Maybe Mike's getting a Steeda Splitter, looks cool but, it's a driveway scraper.
