Hey everyone, just wanted to let you all know I started a thread in the off topic forum titled
PC VS. XBOX+PS4.
Just kidding, lmao. We're all here in this thread because we were comparing our interest in xbox's to play stations, not pc's.
We are all here to fight lol!!!

What is pixel density and the limit of human perception based on the distance from said object for $500, Alex?

Not sure, ever seen a 4k tv in person, there's a difference.

There is definitely a difference when standing close to one, especially in a showroom, but at the average distance that TVs are normally situated the difference is negligible.

No doubt! I think someone makes a 30-40 in for around 600. Seiki or something.

With an average distance of 10 feet in most homes, a TV would have to be over 80 inches for a human to notice a discernible difference. Even at 10ft @ 720p, a human can not distinguish between individual pixels.

1920x1080p vs 3840x2160 is negligible, especially considering there is not much content even out there right now that supports that resolution.

Its simple science. The human eye is only capable of seeing so much definition, which with technology is relative to the screen size and viewing distance.

Simple science that can't be proven, but if your happy with 480p so be it.

Stop making excuses for the console shortcomings.

How can it not be proven?

The only situation in which 4K is beneficial is when you are talking about Humongous TV's, at which point you are probably going to be looking at a digital projection setup, a situation where 100"+ screens are much more common. That and when watching a 3D movie.

"4K" is mainly just a buzzword used to sell TVs who are willing enough to buy it.

Have you seen a 4k tv in person?

Saw a 65" 4k LG sitting next to a 65" 1080p samsung at sams club 3 weeks ago. The LG was crystal clear from any distance. Blowing the samsung picture quality away. It was utterly amazing. There isn't much out there that puts out in that quality, but it's extremely noticeable.

Lol what are you even talking about??? 4k looks even better the smaller the tv/monitor. Games on a 27 inche 4k monitor is crazy. The more pixels you can pack onto a smaller screen, the more clear it will be. While it also helps huge screens as you suggested, it helps small screens even more; ie compare the clarity of your phones screen to your 720p tv from 30 ft away as you say.

It's like comparing a 800x600 tablet to 1920x1080 tablet. The difference is so obvious yet you somehow don't understand it. 4k is no gimmick, I had a 1920x1200 monitor for a time than went back to 1920x1080 and could tell the difference.

Being on a console your probably right, you won't experience above 1080p(or even 1080p) so 4k would be useless to you as you won't have any content for it. As for pc, you can play games in 4k right now if you have the horsepower and the clarity is light years ahead of 1080p. It's simple math bud, 4 x 1080p = more clarity.
