I just don't understand it at all. I've been to Texas. Many many times. Houston, Dallas, Galveston. It's just big and boring there. Except for Austin from what I hear. I just don't sense any culture or history. Architecture sucks too. Dunno the attraction but people there seem to love the place.

It just seems Texans are really proud to be Texans but don't know why.

Slower pace of life, no income tax, warm weather, etc. Some are proud to be Texans because of the whole "we used to be our own country" line, and there is some truth to that. Whether it's warranted or not is an opinion. Personally, I'm not so much proud to be a Texan as I am grateful I'm not anything else. I can also say after having lived on both coasts and spending time in other countries, I have yet to come across a region or location or a group of people that combined, have the state of Texas beat in terms of the quality of life.

Watch a little MSNBC. State with the most people without health insurance and costing the nations the most because of it, the state with most people making minimum wage or less, the state that gets more back in welfare and other govt. assistance programs compared to the amount they pay in, almost 2 dollars to one, etc.

Most Texans are happy because they do not watch MSLSD

I like the tax part. Lol.
We are pretty slow paced here too so I guess I don't notice.
Just too big and spread out for me.

The latter is true. It takes 16 hours to drive to CO where we go. 11 hours of that is going across TX!
