Being spread out means the culture is not homogenous

I would think Al appreciates diversity.

There are loads of different types of people having one thing that describes them all, Texan.

We disproportionately do good and great things compared to the rest of America. I'm not saying everyone is better here than everywhere else. I'm saying that when you see someone on the news that's done something great or heroic, chances are better he's from Texas than anywhere else.

I guess I don't see the attraction because I live in a really country part of Louisiana. Lots of farm land and most people that live here grew up here. Not many outsiders actually live here. I'm less than an hour from either big city and even closer to the swamps. Jobs are plentiful and unemployment isn't an issue. For many outsiders I guess Texas may be attractive but for me it seems big and bland. I still stand by my words that Alabama is one of the best states in the US. Don't know much about the job market there but its a beautiful state.

Alabama is beautiful all over. I agree.

Texas has beautiful parts and boring parts. I live in the boring coastal plains. Fishing is good but I don't fish much.

One day I will buy another boat and start fishing again. I'm glad my father in law has a couple and takes my boys fishing for now.

No offense, but the state isn't that great either when you get south of B'ham. Only good things down there are Gulf Shores and Conecuh.

Nicely stated that's how I feel about where I live in PA minus the swamps! :-)

Our vietnamese neighbor brought spring rolls over to us tonight. Just wish I could eat them. They look so good.
