Question for you iPhone people. My sister recently got an iPhone 5. Her wifi keeps shutting off on her. She'll turn it on, do whatever, leave it on, but later she'll notice that it's turned off. My niece has the same phone, her wifi stays on with no problem.

Is there an option somewhere that i'm missing to keep it on?

It's she leaving her Wi-Fi area when it goes off?

It's a iPhone 5 thing, rather than just connecting to the network, manually connect by clicking the arrow to the right. Mine has worked ever since.

It will go off even when she doesn't leave the house.

My nieces will stay on, go off and connect to Verizon when she leaves, and automatically back to wifi when she comes home.

I did the manual connect. Hours later it will disconnect and never come back until manually connected again.

Google it, I can't remember exactly how I fixed mine, but I know I went through the same thing.

I just googled it and nothing but people complaining without a solution. Lots of old posts too.

I narrowed it down to the router. If I connect it to her router then turn off wifi and back on again, it won't reconnect automatically.

If I connect it to my router and then turn off wifi and back on again, it will reconnect.

It's just weird that my nieces will reconnect no problem, but my sisters wont. Same phone, just one is 6 months newer.

I remember now, I fixed my by selecting "other" rather than the wifi connection, then manually entering the networks name/ password if need be. Should only have to do this once.

I'll have to try that tomorrow, but probably won't make a difference. Worth a shot though.

By shutting off, do you mean it won't connect to the network, or that the wifi function has to be turned back on?
I had trouble with my old 3GS connecting to my brother in law's linksys router, it would connect, then drop the signal then it wouldn't find it anymore. I narrowed it down to the NIC or whatever it is that the iPhone uses for wifi, being faulty.
It could be a issue with the router, but that would be weird unless its does it to other devices also.

It won't automatically reconnect. I figure it's the router, and it is a Linksys. One phone has the problem, the other doesn't. Both work perfectly on my Netgear router.
