The Geek Out
So now that I've had a little time to install and mess with the above powerline adapters...They work great with my computers, but not so much with my 360. The 360 can't ever connect. It turns up with a 169.254.0.0 address, so I know it's not able to contact the DHCP server...but it shows up in the router as a connected device. It just can't get an address to really connect to the network. And I can't assign one manually, because it tells me that the MAC is a duplicate...even though there are none assigned and I have none of them cloned. Any ideas what could be the issue? Only thing I can think of is the port on the 360 is bad, but I haven't gotten a chance to check that yet.

Use a different power line adapter, the one you are using might be faulty.
Just some basic troubleshooting questions
Hard line the 360 to the router and see if you can connect( even though I have had issues doing that with my ps3
)
Have you tried connecting it to another outlet? Are you using a power strip? Have you tried manually entering the IP address on the 360 (probably have) ?

Yeah, if connecting it directly to the router doesn't work, then it's probably the 360.
Can anyone recommend a cheap laptop PC for around $300/$350? My parents are looking for one for my brother to use for school, but don't want to spend a ton. It also needs to have CD drive.
If he needs/wants a desktop then id say build one if your up to it. Built one last month for a friend for $300.

You're not going to get a cheap Asus at Best Buy. The ones they do have listed cheap don't come with a CD/DVD drive, and more and more low end ones are coming that way.
While I agree about Asus (see my sig), your best bet would probably be to head on over to Walmart and not be picky on the brand name. There are usually some decent priced HP's and Acer's there. If you get lucky, you can get a better model that's on clearance. Compare specs, not brand. Don't rely on what you see on the Walmart website. The store has others not showing online, at least around here anyway.
Oh, and don't forget, they come with Windows 8!

Why does it need a CD drive?
Screen size preference?

Just head to best buy, should be able to find a "asus" laptop for 3-350. Make sure it has at least a intel i3 in it, the rest of the specs aren't quite as important, just make sure their comparable to other laptops around the same price range. Why I say asus? They make great products and have excellent customer service from what I hear(never had deal with them, no issues).

I won't be using it, so who cares?

What is it going to be used for? Facebook/Word? Or any purpose that would require significant hardware?

A few good choices there Nathan. The $359 one even says Windows 7.
Yeah most of the time they will have some instore deals that are even better. Meh I use 8 but I prefer 7. All the tiles are a waste of space.

How do I burn 3 or 4 albums of music on one CD with windows media player? Or if I get an Ipod etc. how do I put these albums on there?
Have you considered using a USB flash drive?
iOS 7 hits tomm. I got the gold master release Friday and have been using it on my iPhone and iPad. It's a lot different but friggin awesome compared to the last so many years of the same stuff.
I finally got my internet fixed. But in doing so, I bought a new modem/router, and ran into a new problem that I've never had before. Both of my 360's now freeze when connected to the internet. I've narrowed the problem down to the router and I believe some issue with it's firewall/ports. Of course the manufacturer has never heard of the problem, and claims it's Microsoft's problem. I don't have time for that, nor do I care to keep troubleshooting for them. So I'm just going to buy a new router. Anyone have any recommendations? I just want a solid router that I can count on to work.
