I'm using Mobil 1 5w20 with the usual Ford Motorcraft filter, works fine. An experienced mechanic once told me to use good quality oil with the manufacturer's recommended filter and everything will be fine.

Racing Oil filter. This racing filter fit the 4.6 and 5.4 SOHC and DOHC engines.
Features

Synthetic-Polymer/Cellulose-Fiber blend media
Heavy gage base and canister for higher burst strength and impulse fatigue resistance
High quality silicone anti-drain back valve
Non-stick sealing gasket for ease of installation and removal
Long life with standard and synthetic motor oils
Up to 50% more filtering capacity then standard filters
Improved filtering efficiency
This technology is only available through Ford Racing Performance Parts.
Here is some reasons! yes other filters provides some of these same features! but I prefere to use Ford OEM parts when possible! and to be honest a extra 20 or 30 bucks a year on oil changes isn't going to make or break me....

More than likely it is a Motorcraft filter with a different paint job. So they can charge you more. Where do you guys buy your Motorcraft filters at?? Only place I can find them is the dealer.

Well I got a little bit of bad news from my potential Magnaflow muffs. I finally got someone to put a magnet on the darn things and guess what "it sticks" So they are truely 409 SS and not the 304 SS I was hoping on. Meaning they will rust. And now this fellows wants to get his boom tubes first before selling the Mags. So....in the quest for that all elusive perfect sound. I think I am going to try a set of Pypes Violators from Brenspeed for like $234 shipped. I know for sure they are truely 304 SS from one end to the other. My magnet last Friday doesn't lie. In fact I think I taught Brent a few things about the mufflers he sells. What the heck...I can always sell them to Tom!!

Well, I see I'm at the bottom of the list on posts.
I've never had the gift of gab

Have to say, ported heads are not even on my list yet, so someone else will have to be that guinea pig.

As for filters, I've always used the 820s,I just change them with every oil change. Always changed @ 3K with the synthetic blend, Mobile 1 5K.

My next mods after the prothenes & sequentials will be suspension.

Cody,
Do you travel to OH? And what are your rates?

Tom,
Keeping my fingers crossed for above 50 temps for you, so you can get that hood striped
Had to laugh about those boxes, bet that took a few 'now honey'

Did I mention I'm tired of winter

I always use the 820 too...... also I've always used the Motorcraft sythetic blend, usually around 1800 miles. I know that's kinda a waste but it's cheap oil so I figure it won't hurt. I was hoping for warmer temps today- I drove the car to work, left at around 4pm to come home and went out messing around....... then by 7pm we had gotten 2" of snow. WTH???? When is spring coming? We're one week away from March, can't be long now......... CAN IT??
