2005-2009 Mustang S-197 Installed Blue LEDs in factory switches (lots of pics)
Since I have red led's I took some 3m Brake Light Repair tape and double layered it over the led's and now they almost perfectly match my MyColor settings. Now just to get them to all go off when theyre supposed to... I get one to turn off and another one turns on.. You win this one for now car.. but I will beat you!
Even though I have the tape on there, im still not fully satisfied knowing that theyre semi ghetto so give it a week or two before I break down and order lower mcd led's lol

Oh...and on the "I get one to turn off and the other turns on..."...you have them installed the wrong way with the polarity switched. Take them off and turn them over. One corner is notched...that's the neg. of the LED.

Which LED's are giving you problems.
With the exception of a few in the HVAC that are sideways...I think all the negative's (the corner with the "nick" go towards the bottom of the board.
Sorry about the link...I sometimes suck at the internet...lol.

Well I said I wanted to do it. I didnt say I wanted to pay anyone. I have a tight budget
I know how to solder....i can do it acceptably anyway. Plus I like to do work myself if I can.

Sorry I overlooked your question. I picked it up at the shack in a pinch. I would recommend anyone looking to do the headlight switch get a really high MCD value. As far as the resistor you can calculate what you need by using ohms law:
R=V/I (resistance = Voltage of LED / rated current of LED)
There are also several calculators online for this very purpose. Like this one.

Great write-up Deric, thank you!!!
I just finished my blue lights, they look great! I went back and read and see what you did for the radio lens, but didn't see what you guys are doing for the auto tranny gear indicator lights??? Any ideas? I took mine apart and the numbered lens itself is tinted green.

I have a friend looking to do red LED's but wants white gauge needles. Thought I'd throw out the following links to anyone interested. These are white needles, but I guess it might be possible to dye the plastic to any color desired as well.

I did this mod for the Mustang cluster I swapped into my 1984 Tbird to finish off the dash swap. The needles are now a blue turquoise in spirit of classic Tbird theme. They used to be orange. The flash is washing this out a bit.

Needles are usually clear with the back surface painted whatever color it uses. That is how the light transfers through the needle. It is left clear at the pivot center of the cack of the needle to allow light transfer from the cluster. It is very easy to polish or fine sand the paint off the back of the needle, then paint just the back of the exposed pointer a flat white(not the base pivot under the pivot cap).

Got around to making a new radio lens to replace the green. Cut some plexiglass scribing it with a razor over and over, beveled both of the long edges by hand using a sanding block and some 220 grit, then 400 grit, then plastic polish, then boiled it in Rit Liquid Royal Blue fabric dye for 1 hr 45 mins, stirring it and flipping it ~ every 10 mins I used 2 cups water and 4 tablespoons of dye to start, then added more as necessary, gradually increasing the concentration of dye. I think I ended up using 5 cups water and 13 tablespoons of dye:
