You shouldn't have needed to solder in a resistor for the door switches. There's already oen on the circuit board.

What LED's are you trying to use?

Would anyone know what the difference in the 2007-2008 AC controls is? I tried clicking into method 2 of deric's how-to and it would not work. Just wanted to find this out before trying this awesome mod Here is the link again:

Wow, Just found this great thread nice:

I'm going to try this myself in a couple of weeks and i'm gonna use that manual!!! :

Just got one question.

I want to order the stuff i need first, before i go and open things up.

The round leds that are used are those 3mm of 5mm??

The 3mm give 5000-6800mcd, the 5mm i can have in 8000/10000 or 12000 mcd

The only PLCC-2 i find here are 300 to 450mcd so that looks good!

Think i'm going to place some more of them in the car

Tnx a lot!

I started this mod a week ago actually did what Deric suggested and put in PLCC-2 led's where the round ones were (door lock and window switches) and i bought them from this site:

http://www.unique-leds.com/index.php...roduct_id=1681

They are 70-125 MCD and are very close to the led's in the gauge cluster.

So i changed more LED's in the stang and i ran into a little problem and wanted to see if anyone could help out.

I changed the LED's in the radio. After changing the LED's and changing the green screen to blue i connected everything back up and now no lights on the radio are working. The screen of the radio does not light up. The radio does work but is useless without knowing what station your on. After turning off the car and opening the door the speakers also make a loud pop sound. If anybody has any suggestions i would really appreciate it.

Would the radio still be working though? Sounds coming but it just wont light up. I looked at the manual theirs one fuse (Radio Start) that is in the passenger footwell. Ill check it out and see if thats it.

EDIT:
Just checked the car again. Turned it on. Now the radio does not work at all. No sound, no lights. Im starting to think your right about the fuse. Going to check it first thing in the morning and see.

BTW, I got the blue acrylic sheet for the radio from www.tapplastics.com They are transparent blue and i had to buy ten of them so if anybody wants one just PM me and i can send you one for a low price. Otherwise you would have to spend $20 on the site. Just FYI, you have to sand the edges and make the 45 degree angles.

So i turned the car on this morning and the radio and radio lights are working.. Don't know whats up with that... But as long as it stays working im fine with it Here is a pic of the blue screen i added

Again, if anybody wants an acrylic piece like this just PM me. I have a few left. They come already in blue cut to 1/8" thick, 4" wide, 1-1/8" long. So no cutting or dyeing. Just need to sand the edges and angles.

Nice to see this thread still kicking.

On the sometimes on sometimes off issue check all connections and look for any cold solder joints. Either one will cause this issue.

On the 07-09 AC controls, look on silverhorses site for their AC *****, they have the information there on removing the controls. The link died when they updated their site.

I actually ended up doing everything according to your post and it went down alright not a big difference between them its just that you cant pull the ***** off because they will break in the '07's. ALSO, i think i know what went wrong with the radio.. just a guess, since my radio is not a shaker it does not connect with data cables like in your post. When i took out the radio i did not unplug the whole thing i just unscrewed the face plate and their is one connection you just pull from the faceplate. So while i was changing LED's in the faceplate the radio was still in the car. I think when plugged the faceplate back in it had to "reset" itself.

I was not able to do that since my mustang is a 2007 it has a different AC unit where if i pull out the ***** the ***** will break. So i had to leave the ***** in and just unscrew the back of the unit.
