well time for a mild update
i was at my uncles shop the other day, my dad finally sold the good ole trusty '93 mazda to one of the mechanics. we went off to drop off the extra keys and what not.
turns out my uncle never ordered the other parts!!!! he assumed i was going to buy it all and bring it by. he forgot that i told him HE had to order the shifter, oilpan, shift kt, etc.
so i talked to the mechanic we sold the mazda to, he's always been a good friend and he said (after we discussed whats goin on) he'll get all the other parts delivered from nearby speedshops and all i need to worry about are those gosh darned headers. he wants to fire up the motor and make sure everything works before fully assembling it and then finding other problems. sounds like a sweet deal to me lol
and as for paint. i showed my parents the planned paint scheme, and we're worried its going to be awfully expensive
what im thinking now, maybe i'll just paint on something like this:

and then get some sidestripes like this:

but have it say "cobra II" or "cobra 30II" or "boss 30II" instead
but as much as i think "boss 30II" kicks hiney, i'd feel guilty having it on my car. it isnt a boss, obviously, and ive never been a fan of cars that pretend to be something they are not on the other hand... there was never a "boss 30II" so... technically, im not stealing anything.... hmmm... decisions decisions lol
if i did go with the boss nomenclature, i think all the blackout stuff would fit in better, since i plan a blacked out tailight panel, and tinted all red sequential tails as well. and then i can do those blacked out headlight buckets!
edit: oh and for the record, that '69 Dart is my friends. he just got it back from paint too, and it looks GREAT. he has a 400+hp 360 V8 under the hood of that monster

likin' the 30II idea, i dont really like the "pretenders" either, you could do 'Cobra 30II' on the side or something
looks like your on the right track though, cant wait to hear a sound clip of it with 'em headers...when you get them on

and BTW I'm back

haha i see you've come back to the light
nice to ee you lurking around here agin. as for the stripes... i still am not sure what i want. it might boil down to whats the cheapest
and about the sound clip, i beleive we'll be waiting a while for that. though, the mechanic said he would try and fire it up once the other assorted parts arrived (oil pan, etc) so i might get a clip of that
man wouldnt that be great, an anmuffled sound of a 302

this is a shout out to all you great photshoppers out there. im not at my place, so i cant use my laptop, so i was ondering if someone could help me out. now we all know this whole paint deal is being problematic.
what if i go with the hoodstriping on my friends Dodge Dart and go with the '69 boss graphics in vinyl. that way the paint is fairly cheap and i can still get the Boss look. id love to see a PS of that on my car... and if possible... could i see it in white, torch red, and maybe even competition orange? any reference pic will do, it doesnt have to be the one from before. and if you could.... add in the Boss 429 hood. a rear view with a blacked out tail panel and all red tailights and louvers would be appreciated too

sorry for asking so much guys im just excited at this new AND good idear i had. those dont come very often
at least.... not at the same time
Arin... from my experience... stock... original... is always more apreciated... u dont like the stock cobraII... its your car and do what u like... Personally I always loved the King Cobra look... if you are looking 4 something unike... then do something not 1st generation... maybe u could do a "wild deuce" style... or a "stallion"... or dunno... something diferent...
About paint and vinyl... I did that on the 2005 that I sold... and if u plan on having that dessign 4 a long time... its ok... cause when u try 2 remove it... is very very hard... somtimes u even pull some paint... and you will have 2 re-paint all over again...
Let me think about some desings and see if u like them...

stock and original is great but its not neccasarily for me. my car wasnt that exciting stock and i want to do somethin a little wild
the king cobra and stallion are just copying things that're already there, and wild deuce isnt for me. i need to do something completely different. dont worry, im just crazy
just ask around
im a big fan of restomods and making older cars perform and act like newer cars. no worries tho
