Well good luck with it man.. Keep it a stick don't go auto. It was a mistake and you learned from it.
If you had had a V-8 under the hood you could have still pulled away in third

do whatever it takes to convince them to let you keep it stick.
and for that matter maybe convice them to get you a V8 since it wouldn't have happened if you had one

well if i had the V8 put in it would have been bolted to an AOD bec a V6 4speed isnt hardy enough for that little something called "torque" lol
im not to bummed though. my parents and i talked it out and we are still putting in the blower and we're for sure doing it soon, most likely after school gets out (june 7) and much before June 17 so that i can enter my II in the 29th annual Vintage Mustang owners association show. once its on it should have power levels similar to that of a N/A V8... i hope.
and i know for a fact ill be the only II there. i went for the past two years and there were none.

Actually Arin that Rad 4 speed is the same tranny I had in mine and I ran 300HP through it all the time and had no problems. I did have it rebuilt but that was before i did the engine up and it was just rebuilt to stock specs.
Hey I was wondering do you ever run with your rear quarter windows open? I used to run mine open all the time to get soem airflow. I took the AC out of the car so I had the 5/50 AC in it then (2 windows, 2 quarter windows, and 1 sun roof and 50 mph

about the tranny, the internals were different for each motor. so a V6 RAD4 wouldnt be able to take the 300hp that yours was able to, bec yours was built to bolted on a V8. oh the things i learned from mustangii.net lol
hmm i know that they do open, but i always forget to open em up. i usually keep my rear seats folded down for trunk space (for my backpack, track stuff and assorted junk) so i cant very well sit back there and open em up.
but seeing as my AC doesnt quite.. well... work, i may have to give that a try
and hopefully ill be able to keep cool in the car. although... i dont have that one extra peice of glass you did
ie; sunroof
in fact, if it works as well as you say, i may just ax my real AC completely. save a good 5-6 hp lol.
man... i wish i had T-tops :P

egad. i feel like april and her many job switches :bang: lol
ok heres the scoop. talked to my friends dad, a master mechanic and lifelong hot rodder. took the II and all my not yet installed EFI/Blower parts to his place. he looked it over and told me about how much work id need to get the car up and running with all them goodies. im looking at 4 months worth of work
i have to strip, repaint, rebuilt and machine alot of the Bronco II parts for EFI to work. im starting to think this may be a big waste. the blower he says is alright, nothin special.
so heres wat im thinkin. i still have that 302/AOD combo. imight go with the 302 after all. turns out, less work to get that in than to do all this junk. but instead of the AOD, im gonna find me a T5. im too used to shifting to give it up now. plus, theres more parts available for 302s n stuff and its starting to look more appealing day by day.
so now for an updated wish list:
-T5
-bigger leaf springs (to raise the rear end about... oh say 2"? i want bigger tires)
-5 lug rotors, hubs calipers for the front
-5 lug axles for the 8"
-im thinking hopfeully magnum 500s
-an aftermarket shifter for said T5
-cobra undergood dressup kit (valve covers, air cleaner perhaps)
-OR go with a carb scoop like BM did
-im gonna need some hedman, hooker or blackjack headers
-better heads... dunno wat to go with yet. maybe just some 351W heads?
-cam. also have no idea wat to do there
-V8 front springs
-street rod lowering spindles (can probly get that with the front end disc conversion on ebay or somesuch)
-V8 oil pan
-monroe handler rear end/spoiler
-mesh grille
-relocate turn signal to a smaller round lense in the bottom corners of the grille
-rectangular fog lights where the current rectangular turn signals are
-new paint, possibly the same colors as now
-rear window louvres
-custom ram air (71-73 style) hood
-subframe connectors... theres some comapny out there that makes em for IIs.... i seen em
alot of this is just dreaming for now, but i really want to get that V8 up n runnin before school starts
PS how does one change the title. i think the one here is a tad outdated....

updates from uncle:
old motor/trans pulled today. began, and nearly finished, the process of widening the transmission tunnel for the big bellhousing of the AOD, should finish tomorow. If the radiator, electric fan, and shifter all arrive tomorow at the shop i JUST might have it done by then. but thats not accounting for the fact that they need to fix my electrical problems and horn as well. either way, i hope to be on the road next week.
also, im planning on getting a good, moderate Nitrous kit, just for kicks. i dont plan on using anything bigger than a 75 shot. you guys have any recomendations on what kits are the most for your money? its foing to be for a 4bbl carbed car.
also: Carb scoop or hood scoop? if hoodscoop, which kind ( Mustang II kind, '82 GT, Boss 429
, or any other ideas )

Alright . . . glad she's coming together for you! Are you thinking of getting NOS before she leaves the shop? Or are you going to run her a while, let some of the 'bugs' get worked out, and then get some giggle gas for her?
If it were me, just my opinion, I would take the cash for a NOS kit and get a AOD shift kit, and maybe begin the process of updating brakes/rear end. But that's me, and I'm not trying to steer you in any certain direction.
I had an AOD in one of my Capris and i had a B&M shift kit. It was very cool.

shift kit eh? that actually had not occured to me. in any case, about the nitrous kit, i planned to install it myself, and not for a while. this motor install will be hurting my wallet for months to come lol, seeing as it also includes the price of a new radiator, electric fan and hammer shifter, plus electircal wark and labor.
the idea behind the nitrous came to me from a friend. he told me "arin.. have you ever realized that you are, in essence, the Han Solo of the real world, and your car is indubitable Millenium Falcon material?"
the whole "hyperdrive" deal in star wars got me thinking... why dont i have a switch that unleashes unlimited speed unto my vehicle?
unfortunatley, if i do go with that and do install it myself, i may have some of han solo's problems as well (ie, installed parts not functioning when critically necassary, bounties being placed on head, etc)
anyway, im going to drive it stock for a while (if you can call it that lol), mainly due to a lack of money. but out of curiosity, what do shift kits run? and what exactly do they do that makes th3 car better? ive always wondered but never asked because i have very little understanding of trannies

Congrats Arin!!!
I would LOVE to see a 429 hood on a II! I think it would look great
You should get someone to do a photoshop for you with the different hoods and stuff.
Don't forget to custom paint it your favorite color

Look what I found
A 429 styled hood for the II... I think it looks pretty awesome from that angle.

you should become a raider fan and paint your car that color

i should also beat you for telling me to become a raider fan and suggesting either of those horrid paint jobs
i think a boss '9 scoop will be fun! but for $125... it can wait lol. although i was thinking of getting a 1.5" cowl, and then putting the boss '9 scoop on it
and im also diggin those hood pins
