Slammed right into my XLT. Just parked right there, in plain sight, right in front of the garage, and right beside the carport. Danged thing has gone almost 300K miles, literally been to all 4 far corners of the lower 48 and every state in between without incident. Parked in my own yard, hadn't been driven in days and gets practically totaled.

$2200 in damage.
A box truck will do that to a car, what a moron!(the truck driver)
That'll buff out, might need alot of elbow grease though.

Didn't even leave a mark on the truck. The corner of the steel bumper that the Tommy Lift is built into hit the tailgate of the Explorer right in the middle and just folded it up like a cheap suit. Windows exploded. Safety glass is still scattered everywhere. Keep finding it all over the place.

I already fixed it. Its got 300K on it, so its not perfect, but it still looks decent. So I called every junk yard in the area until I found one that had an Explorer of the same model. Finally found one up in TN that had one that was the same color, wrecked in the front last year. Window, paint, shocks, hinges, locks, wiper, everything else, good. Bought it for $200 and bolted it on. Washed it, waxed it and it matches perfectly. Probably better than having it fixed because the paint is weathered like the rest of the car, if I had it fixed and painted it would have stood out like a sore thumb on a 16 year old car.

Glad you got it fixed Lee. That was quick! Was it just the trunk door or was the bumper/frame too?

Just the tailgate. Barely missed the bumper/frame by inches and shoved the tailgate in within inches of bending the quarter panels. It did blow the window out of the tailgate and destroyed all the lock mechanisms and wiper motor and mechanisms in the tailgate though.

Yeah, luckily I found one the same color that was intact at a junkyard. Had to make a drive to get it, but it was only 4 bolts to change it out. Took the whole other one off and bolted the other one on, hinges, shocks and all. Of course there was a lot of wiring harnesses, aligning the hinges, taking down the headliner, taking off the interior pieces to get to the bolts, etc.

I never got into the check ****. I was surprised. The place where I bought the fridge was a major chain that every one knows ( I won't say who it was since everything went really well, I don't want to put any bad press on them after the way it went down). A third party delivery company brought the appliance, the store uses outside delivery companies to bring their stuff. Kind of pissed me off, but the driver immediately called his supervisor but tried to start talking him down about what a POS the car was and how it was it was old and a POS.

After talking to the supervisor on the phone that day, it was obvious he didn't want to turn it in on his insurance, keep the rates down on their commercial rates. He said bring him an estimate.

I did the next day. Called him and told him what it was. He said he was near his bank, don't call his insurance company, meet him at the bank. I did, he cashed the check for the amount of the estimate, and handed me $2300, and said he was sorry for the way things happened and asked that I not tell the store (************ I wont mention the store) what happened.

Well I'm just finishing up my one day off since February 12th. I think the count was 37 straight 12hr shifts. Complete torture. Haven't seen stars in over a month. Gotta work tomorrow and Tuesday and then it's back to normal shift. It's been bad but I have missed you folks. Talk at y'all soon.

Nope. And I'm feeling it right about now. Good thing is this only happens in my area once every 4 years. So I got 4 more years to recover from it. The money I made this last month is ridiculous though.

That last sentence is why Justin works in the refinery industry also. He loves Turnaround season... You work 15+hr days for a few weeks or months BUT at the end your savings account is happy
