Spacecraft Bound for Pluto Set to Awake Nine Years After Launch
Dec 1, 2014
...........New Horizons is currently 2.9 billion miles from earth and was launched in January 2006 atop an Atlas V rocket. Pluto at the time was still considered a planet, with scientists later that year voting to demote its status to that of a dwarf planet.

Poor Pluto, dont worry, us sane people still think you're a planet.
wiseoldfart > SeanBusmc . • a day ago
If Pluto is round like our moon and orbits the sun like our planet, it's a planet to me.
postman7z > wiseoldfart • 19 hours ago
It has moons, several, that enough for me.
ronchris > postman7z • 16 hours ago
That's no moon... I've got a bad feeling about this.

Wedge Antilles (Red 2): Look at the *size* of that thing!

Cut the chatter Red 2!
Wonder Pony > Rogue Cheddar • 14 hours ago
So they DO let you roam around the place!

(and yes i know there was no Red 13 before anyone says it)

Royg > SoarHigh • 10 hours ago
Can't be. The death star is due here on 12/21. They said.

Eris is larger than Pluto and has a larger orbit around sun. Pluto was discovered before we understood the volume of material in the Kuiper belt. Pluto doesn't meet the same criteria as the other 8 planets, so I don't see a problem with it being called a dwarf planet.
Tom O > The Racket • 16 hours ago
How about "Formerly known as planet Pluto"?
Vegetable Garden > Tom O • 12 hours ago
That would be: Planet Emeritus
G Anderson > Vegetable Garden • 12 hours ago
I say we just go with "Prince." :-))
postman7z > The Racket • 19 hours ago
Eris should be a planet too.
The Racket > postman7z • 19 hours ago
Then you'd have to make Haumea and Makemake planets as well. Anything past Neptune is different the the main 8 in more ways than not. They're just dwarf planets with radically different orbits.
Rick Green > The Racket • 17 hours ago
Shouldn't we really be calling it a "little planet?" Dwarf planet is insensitive.
Ben Dover > Rick Green • 15 hours ago
It's Racist! All those people calling it a dwarf are racist individuals.
Rogue Cheddar > Rick Green • 15 hours ago
Is dwarf planet tossing a sport or just a good time?
darthgidget > Rick Green • 14 hours ago
a size challenged planet?
Mills > The Racket • 14 hours ago
How insensitive can you be? It's orbitally-challenged and mass-capable! Who are you to judge? They're all planets in their own right.
postman7z > The Racket • 19 hours ago
Yeah I guess you are right but I grew up with Pluto as a planet and it is just hard to give that status up and call it a dwarf.
darthgidget > postman7z • 14 hours ago
but uranus is still a planet.
G Anderson > darthgidget • 11 hours ago
Why, thank you!

I took this week off, first week I've ever taken off from work in my life, and it's been hell. Sick as a dog, feel worse today, and it's been raining the entire week. Which is fine, except the only thing I had planned was to detail my car for winter. this sucks! If I were this sick I wouldn't have gone into work anyway! What a waste of PTO.

LL Bean struggles to meet demand for iconic boot
Dec 4, 11:50 AM (ET)
By DAVID SHARP
LEWISTON, Maine (AP) — Whether it's "lumberjack chic" or old-school utility, demand for L.L. Bean boots is surging — so much so that some customers will have to wait until February to get their holiday purchases.
A backlog of 60,000 boot orders could grow to 100,000 by month's end, and the company is in the process of hiring 100 workers and purchasing additional equipment to catch up with demand.
"We just can't make enough of them," said Tom Armstrong, L.L. Bean's chief merchandising officer.
The rubber-bottomed, leather-topped "duck boot" has seen sales grow from fewer than 100,000 a decade ago to about 450,000 this year. Next year, the number is expected to top 500,000.

Umm I really don't know, I'll see. Unless you're trying to edit a post that's a few days old. It's been setup for years to where I think after 72hr a post becomes perm.

Aloha everyone, just thought I'd stop by and see what's been going on. Keeping busy here and the days seem to fly by, can't wait to have a couple weeks off and get back to the mainland.

But about it, someone at bean wasn't following fashion trends closely enough over the last year or so.
Remember the "Metrosexual" craze a decade ago? Its been replaced by Lumbersexual (dead serious).

Personally, I think its just an offshoot of the hipster movement.
