I feel the same way, exactly. My dad, and both grandpas were in the Navy. I wanted to bad to go in after high school, but I am an only child and my parents insisted I go to college, and then "I could do whatever I wanted." Yeah right. Not in CA, at least. My dad went to one year at a JC, the decided reading and test taking wasn't for him - I'm the same way, albeit my attention to detail when it comes to grammar and spelling is a lot higher than his. I learned my work ethic from him though. His dad died when he was 10, so I obviously never got to meet him - I've heard he was in special ops, gone for 6-month-long missions in which he couldn't write or be reached at all. We have pictures from some of those missions in Japan and Guadalcanal, cool stuff, which only inspired me even more. It's too late now, but I was still thinking about going into OCS if the whole sheriff thing doesn't work out for me (another way I feel like I'd be serving, just on a smaller scale).

You are playing plenty of taxes to support your local LEO and our armed forces. You are not a lesser person, you are serving our country in a different way

I felt the same way. All of my family served in the US military. My family immigrated from the Philippines. The Philippines was a protectorate of the United States at one time. You could enlist in the US military as a foreign national. My family sees it as an obligation to serve. I have asthma and some other fun health issues that prevent me from serving. I don't we should feel bad at all. You serve your nation by being an active member of society. I teach to give back. The fact that it concerns you and you want to be a peace officer shows your pride in nation and community. Many people don't even think about what this country has given them or how they can give back. Be proud that you are not one of those people.

Got a few more things to do around the pool to finish up, was planning on doing it today but I just don't feel like it. Getting this thing going has kicked my *** this year, been working on it for almost a week.

What are you up to with the pool ! making landscaping around it. Snap some photos so we can enjoy the progress.

Indy 500: Man that is a fast race! When the string would come down the front stretch in front of the grand stands, it looked more CG than real. lol
Then the race had such a fantastic momentum. Really exciting esp after about lap 160 or so. It was awesome racing!
Then... it ended with one of those stupid nascar endings.

So disappointed.

Agree with you about Nascar. I use to go to both NH Loudon race and decided not to go this year.

Past several races have had no action whatsoever, no accidents, no nothing. NADA. They even had to bring out the yellow flag a few times so that their would be some kind of racing going on.

Nahh, I don't need or want anymore yard work to keep up with, lol.

Just getting it running for the season. Even covered and shut down all winter it gets green and funky and all kinds of **** by the time I uncover it in May.

Got the pump/filter up and running last week and big dose of chemicals in it, then had to backwash the filter twice from all the algae and stuff that had accumulated. Finally cleared up a couple days ago, now I just need to vacuum it and brush the walls and bottom, backwash the filter again, get the ladder put in and wash down all the sidewalks and stuff. And get all the chairs and cushions and stuff out there and cleaned up.

And today must be hay day. I've seen at least 10 people either cutting or baleing today.

Its canoe day here. I've probably seen 30-40 in the past hour.
