I know they are super intelligent, loving animals, just wondering if they connect with people like that?
Horses have pretty good memories but short learning windows. Like for training they have a short attention span so you have to correct their error quickly as well as reward them quickly. But then they remember a long time. (That's why there was no need to try and punish the stallion that mauled me because I was in the hosp for a few weeks. So he got no correction and therefore thought it was perfectly ok to eat your owner after that. lol That's why he had to be put down because he became dangerous to other humans.) They know their names and their individual 'calls' and they know my commands like 'quit' when they're stirring shyt up with another horse.

They will remember a 'ghost' on the trail the next time you ride on it if something spooked them there - even if there's quite a time gap between rides on that trail.

I've never been separated from my horses very long so I don't know if they would recognize me by sight or smell like the ad portrays. I know they are happy to see me when I return from being out of town - similar to your dog being happy to see you.

Since pain pills bother you would muscle relaxers help? I take a mild one called Zanaflex that works better than ibuprofen, voltaren or percocet for medium pain. I learned that it was muscle spasms sometimes causing the pain. There were times that the percs wouldn't work but the Zanaflex would.

Well I like to think that they do, I've had dogs that are like that, so it makes me feel good to think that the commercial could be true. It may be crazy, but I've had ol' mutts that remembered me by smell and it makes me feel good to think that a horse that was raised by someone since it was a baby could do the same.

Back when I used to grow my hair long (ponytail down below my waist) to donate to Locks of Love, I got it cut one time and my dog went crazy when I walked into the yard, was ready to rip me a new arsehole, but when he smelled me he freaked out and attacked me with kisses and love. Didn't know me by sight because I looked so different, but knew exactly who I was when I got close enough for him to smell.

Anyone that says that dogs don't know people by sight can kiss my ****, this one did, and it was very obvious that he did until he smelled me from a distance.

Always thought Kaman was a strange combination. Guitars (Ovation/Adamas) and helicopters. Interesting article.

A robotic helicopter has been quietly busy resupplying Marines on the battlefield and in remote locations in Afghanistan.

I wish I could go to bed and sleep. I'm in serious pain. Hopefully I'll be able to move tomorrow.

I'm awake. I lost the battle of trying to keep up with the storm. The winds got so bad the I couldn't see anymore and it was just pointless. I had to push open my front door this morning. The snow is level to the top of the porch covering all the stairs, somke drifted snow but it is pretty level out onto the walk way and lawn. I went down stairs and turned on the outside light for my back yard and went back up to get a view. WOW. You can just about make out some of the black paint on my explorer down the sides, you cannot see the wheels and most of the front end is totally buried, the wifes car is pretty much up to windows.

This is going to suck to clean . Time for some breakfast/coffee and I'll take some pics.
