Speaking of greenage... February is a big anniversary month. Today Feb 6th is my 5 year anni for purchasing #901 after a 60 day build/delivery wait.
And next week Feb 14th is my 30th anni of purchasing Hank - my trusty ol F150!

I never felt the urge or need to name any of my cars....never really thought about it....but if I did I'm not sure I could keep up with the names!

Some interesting tidbits I looked up on the '83 F150. I have the 300/4.9L 6. Lousy numbers compared to today but nice torque from the 6 (over the 302).
Powertrain
The seventh-generation F-Series marked a major transition in the powertrains used by the pickup line. As before, the standard engine was a carbureted 300 cubic-inch inline-6.
300 CID Straight-6 1981–86 122 hp (91 kW) 255 lb·ft (346 N·m) 1bbl
302 CID Windsor V8 1980–85 133 hp (99 kW) 233 lb·ft (316 N·m) 2bbl
351 CID Windsor V8 1983–85 150 hp (110 kW) 280 lb·ft (380 N·m) 2bbl
Ford's 4.9-liter inline-six cylinder engine is one of the most enduring in automotive history with a production run lasting from 1965 to 1996. Despite some minor tweaking throughout its production run, the 300-cubic inch displacement truck motor retained the same bore and stroke measurements of 4.00 inches and 3.98 inches, respectively. It was essentially a 240 cu in (3.9 L) with a longer stroke. The 1-5-3-6-2-4 firing order remained the same throughout its production run as well.
Axles and differentials
This generation was the first time Ford used Independent suspension on their full size 4x4 trucks, as well as being the first time any of the Big Three (automobile manufacturers) made a 4x4 full size truck without a solid front axle. Ford & Dana Corporation called this the Twin Traction Beam or TTB. The F-150 used a Dana 44 TTB. The rear was a Ford 9-inch axle with the Ford 8.8 axle being phased in, in 1983 (3.73).

A recent yet giant step in Ford Inline six racing has been performed by McLearran Motorsports in Tucson AZ. The McLearrans, Wil and Kelly, have achieved enough notice that their 1963 Ford Falcon has been seen in several magazines and was scheduled to make an appearance on the show Pinks.
The 1963 Falcon driven by McLearran Motorsports' Kelly McLearran has been dyno tested at 323 rwhp @ 4500 rpm and 502 rwtq @ 2650 rpm. The car has run a best time of 10.89 seconds at 1/4 mile, with Kelly driving.

I figured Henry would approve.
And this old truck has pulled me out of so many jams I've lost count. From backpack trips all over, freeway commutes to SF and back, cross country trips, to tow truck (pullin the coffee truck out of the snow in my 'road'), to tractor & skidding duties here on the ranch, etc., etc. It earned a nickname - the hard way.

I've had my teal SVO for 17 years, my crew cab dually for 10 years....I had a '65 Fastback for 20 years before I let it go....so I've had some for a long time and been through a lot with them but still never felt like naming them....probably just me as I know a lot of people do....but just never did it.

So they didn't even speak to me at jury duty. Sat for 2 hrs listening to the first group get selected. So glad they never even asked me anything. I was already pissed off just having to be there.

Son of a ***** I'm hurting bad. I was a little stiff when I got up today (well I'm always stiff when I wake up, but today my back was hurting too ), but as the day went on my back has gotten worse and worse. Good thing it was warm enough for flip flops, because I couldn't tie my shoes. Now its so bad just laying here it hurts to even move.
