Oh, so you went in through Cherokee and through the park. You were right at the Dragon and Skyway when you got on 441. If you had kept going on 64 you would have run right into them.

I probably wouldn't go back that way to get to the Dragon and Skyway. I would go back down 321 (Wears Valley Rd, its the main intersection in Pigeon Forge) toward Townsend. A few miles after you pass Townsend, take Foothills Parkway to Chilhowee. That is the intersection of 129 (the Dragon) and will take you on down to the Skyway.

Scroll around manually on Mapquest and you will see the route I'm talking about.

Something else cool in the 129 area is Fontana Dam and reservoir (check out the visitor center). Its the highest dam east of the Mississippi, and when it was built was the 4th largest dam in the world. It was built in record time to power the ALCOA plant to make aluminum for WWII needs. What people didn't know, was that it was also planned to power Oak Ridge nuclear development to build "the bomb". The Manhattan Project.

Sorry to bore everyone with my Southern history lesson, lol.

Is that at BIR? I know a guy on a local forum who was up there this past weekend.

It's like 3 or 4 hours away. Maybe someday. There's so much more of MN that I want to see. I've only ever seen what's along I-35, I-90 and up along the north shore. I have yet to see far SE MN, and most of W/NW MN. Some day, I just want to get out and explore it all.

Well, aliens landed and started sucking out people's brains for testing...not much else.
