The blue one is where the monitor plugs in....

My video car outlined in white. You'll be looking for a card sticking up out of the motherboard like that. It won't look the same but you'll get the idea.

It's hard to tell if it's the video thats bad or something else. One way to find that out is to get a seperate video card, install it, turn off the integrated video in the bios when you boot and tell it to use the card and see what happens. If it works with no problems, then it was the integrated video. If the problem still exists, then more troubleshooting.
Since you don't know what you are doing, I assume you don't have another card to try. So that just adds to the troubleshooting madness!

How much would a new card be? Where do I even begin to look?

You can get a cheap one for maybe $50. I wouldn't rush to buy one though until you knew that was the problem. You would think that no video would mean the video is bad, but another problem could also cause the motherboard to brain fart and cause no video to display even though it is good.
Any friends that are PC savvy that may be able to help?

Everything comes on but the monitor says it isn't getting a signal. I tried hooking it up the our tv with HDMI instead and the tv said the signal was unsupported. It worked fine for both just minutes before though, which is why I really don't get it.
