Ok tech people. Listen up! We had a computer crash last year. Can I just buy a new hard drive and hope it works again? Where do I even begin to look for one?

Nathan-I had a computer crash and it was the hard drive. Hard drive just wouldn't spin. The computer will try to boot and go through the BIOS and crap and then it would stick on the Windows screen.
Luckily I had my back up windows disk and bought a new hard drive, installed it, and then reloaded windows as instructed. You lose everything in the computer of course. Plus if you don't have an old windows disk from when you bought the computer you are screwed. You'll have to find a complete version of windows to install. Most versions you find are upgrades and won't work unless there is a previously licensed version of windows on the hard drive, which a new hard drive will not have because its blank.
It ended up costing me like $90 for the hard drive. If I had to buy a new version of windows though it would have cost at least $120 more for the basic version. The problem is you need that license. Hopefully you kept the disc that came with the computer.

Chinese food turned out freakin' awesome.
The worst thing was the frozen egg rolls.
The best was the shrimp fired rice. (white rice, cooked shrimp, diced bacon, julianne carrots, peas, egg, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, shallots, sesame oil)

Update on teh cars.
The Blazer's almost ready for the road again. Air cleaner painted & installed, sans one hose that needs to be replaced. Front frame reinforcement, radio & dash trim, done. The front driveshaft is on hold due to a missing bolt
The Mustang, fine, thank you Haven't even moved it since the lawn was mowed.
The Mazda is working great so far. What a difference the front brake rejuvenation made!

got my iPod working right finally. Now I have to put the 7 gigs of stuff back on it. I took it apart and for some strange reason there was water in it dried it out now it's working again.

That's great news Steven!
I also forgot to mention that my bro got rid of the Tercel and the fugly 18" wheels that I test fitted some months ago on the Mustang. He exchanged it for a black Mirage LS 2door. 1.8L DOHC five speed fully loaded.
