OK. So I got my vented oil filler cap for Seven today. In the first pic you can see the oil that accumulated in teh spark plug well of the head after only a 15 minute drive. I didn't even get heavy into boost at all. If I didn't have a breather setup this would be going in the intake through the throttle body. When I had my vac line/pcv factory setup this is what was happening. I went to breather on each of the cam covers but with 11psi of boost I was still pushing oil out of the breather on the passenger side.

This is the cap. $59 but it should finally solve this problem. It will just allow more pressure to be released on that side and therefor the oil won't be spilling all over my cam cover and headers.

Hope your problem is solved with that oil cap Gary. An oil separator would've helped you if it still was a closed PCV system. Do those valve covers have a baffle?

They're supposed to from what I've heard elsewhere. I know Scotty over in Mid-West thread said when he was having them powdercoated they had to cover the baffle area before painting.

Why does having a baffled valve cover matter?

Hey Diana.

Seriously Nathan, just talk to people. Whats the worst that can happen? They don't talk back? Big effing deal, talk to someone else. Hell, you might start a new trend. People actually talking to people instead of staggering around like drooling window lickers while punching buttons on a cell phone until carpal tunnel sets in on their thumbs.

You may find this hard to believe, but when I was your age we had actual conversations with other human beings, and engaged in physical contact with each other.......even REAL sex instead of cybersex with some person you never met who may or may not be a hairy, 400lb 61 year old dude typing from his air mattress in the back of a Ford cargo van.

I didn't see the oil, but by your description, that's not good! Hopefully this solves your problems Gary

Gotcha! And there's that much off every cylinder? After 15 minutes? Dang! I can see where your concern is from now

Nah. That's it. Well some of it falls on the header and down the valve cover. It comes out of the breather in that pic. You can see it looks like the red filter part of the breather is FULL of oil.

A baffled valve cover will make sure everything gets oiled. It's not baffled in the way an oil pan is, it is used to spray some of the oil downward over the cam and valve train to make sure everything has plenty of lubrication.

Big trucks have the same thing in their transmissions. The main gear set in the tranny has two counter shafts on either side for the high and low range. Eaton uses an oil trough on the top cover to spray some of the oil that is slung up off of the main gear set onto the two counter shafts. Keep it all well lubed.

AND, one thing I know you know all about Gary, is the importance of proper lubrication.
