Hey guys so i want to kmow the difference in the block between Gen 2 block f150 vs mustang, I understand alternator is mounted diff and oil cooler and oil pump gears are different, but I'm getting gen 2 GT heads and want to know if I can dress it up in mustang spec with the mustang accessories oil cooler etc...basically are the blocks 100% interchangeable is my question with stock location GT accessories as it would come in a GT on a Gen 1 coyote...now the reason why I'm asking this...my 186k mile 2011 stang 3.7 spun a rod bearing after drifting and from what I've read as long I get the coyote gen 2 engine, engine harness and ecu along with the gen 1 bits (yes gen 1 please correct if I'm wrong) for ac, cooling and whatever else along with gen 1 GT abs pump with pats delete on ecu its essentially plug and play with maybe a pin swap on the BCM...I know some will say just get a GT but this car has sentimental value and is in great condition hence why I'm just considering coyote swap over the winter...also since it's a 2011 3.7 with performance pack it doesn't have the track modes and whatever like the 13-14 models have, will this be an issue? Also any recommendations for forged internals with stock GEN 2 GT compression ratio? I will be going twin screw supercharged and ultimately I want this engine to last 100k miles before a rebuild with proper machining and what not

My First Question is Will the Car Be Smog Legal When you are Done? Are You Just Going to Use the Car For Track Only? Now If You Really Want to Go For Broke Why Not Try & Locate a Wrecked Gt-500. The Engine is Already Built to take More Horsepower Than it was Built With and Usually they are Low Miles Due to Rarity of Car! Just A Thought! The Little Bits & Details of any Conversion will Drive You Mad, Be Advised. A Complete Wrecked Car Will Be a Treasure Trove of Information and The Bits as Well!
Emissions testing is not a concern where I live...I want coyote power, not really interested in getting the gt500 engine due to the rarity, I'd rather someone else that needs a gt500 engine for their gt500 be able to get it. Plus I want the coyote to be the first engine I assemble myself and there's a write up on this forum of someone who did this with their 3.7 s197 with all the part numbers and what not. Ultimately just trying to find out what I mentioned in my post

Gotcha~
I Would Recommend a Factory Ford Shop Manual To See All the Specs & Tools Ford Uses on these Engines & Other Items of interest. You Can Find them in Cd Form on Ebay Usually!
Best of Luck on the Project! Would Love To See it Documented Here on TMS So Others Can Learn From Your Experience as Well! Might Also Help as You Run into Issues for Some Outside Input! Also a Cheering Section Can Help Motivate your Efforts!

That Post is a Good Start as it Lists the Conversion Pieces. I would Advise You Check all the Part Numbers and See if they are Still All Available. This is My Online Ford Catalog of Choice and it's Fairly accurate But Not 100%. None of the Online Ones Are and For That Matter the Dealership Catalogs Can Have Glitches as Well. This Will Be a Handy Tool for you to Check on things. I Punched in the First Number on the List As an Example. Now Realize He Used a Used Motor and Did not Rebuild it. So You Are Going to Need a Lot of Gaskets and Hardware as a Lot of the Items on New Engines are ONE Use Only and If Removed Must Be Replaced. Especially Things Like Headbolts and The Like! The Shop Manual Will Advise on those Items.
Thank you so much, and yes i know ill have to source gaskets and what not thats no biggie...just want to make sure for gen 2 blocks they are same regardless if from an f150 or mustang gt and whether the accessories mounts and location for them and stuff like that is able to interchange...like as an example if there's diff alt mount locations, f150 gen 2 block has the oil pump on the front and apparently the gen 2 GT block has it on the side and want to know if get a gen 2 coyote block can i mount them according to gen 2 mustang coyote spec...want to know about stuff like that based on others who have swapped gen 2 engines in 2011 and up s197's...my apologies If it sounds stupid

Sounds Like You are Asking The Right Questions! Better to Research Beforehand Than Get Stuck Down the Road. Parts is My Area of Expertise So I am Contributing What I am Versed in. Back in the Day When I Had a Dealership Crew To Get More Info I had My Hands in a Lot of Upgrades to the S-197'S. But Those Days are Passed, So Hopefully Somebody in Here More Versed in Coyote Install's Will Chime in and Help With your Project. I even had Access to Ford Engineers at One Point! I Do Miss Those Days! Again As Far As Your Questions No Prob. Many Rush Blindly into these Type of Projects with no Planning and That Gets Messy & Expensive. Meanwhile Lets See What Other Info We Can Dig up!
Here are Some Ford Manual Pdf's Which Maybe Good Reference For a Start! I Used 2011 and 2017 Reference Points!
A Call to Ford Racing Tech Line Might Be a Way To Get Some More Info as Well! You Can Get Your Note Pad Out & Call 1-800-367-3788
Well Hopefully I Was Some Help! It's 2:00 A.M. Here in California! The Brain is getting Weary! Oops! Now it's 4:00 A.M. I Gotta Stop Editing! DoH!
A Quick Check of a {BARE BLOCK} on a {2017 F150 & Mustang} are The Same Part Number! Same For 2015-2017 Year Models! The Oil pump is Also The Same For Both the F-150 and Mustang. Its the Oil Filter Adapter & Cooler Which are Different.
Perfect exactly what I wanted to know and thanks for the fordpartsgiant website, I'll cross reference all the parts I'll need to ensure fitment, if there's any other question I have along the way I'll reply back in this thread
, thank you so much and i appreciate your help

Alright so far based on the info I've gathered, it seems much easier to just use the gen 1 block with gen 2 heads along with gen 1 timing components to use the gen 1 ecu so that the cluster works...I'm not giving up on a full gen 2 swap yet but so far this seems like the most viable plug and play option just based on making the cluster work...will also be cheaper to use a gen 1 block
