I just got my Track Pack mustang and I also plan on getting a dedicated set of winter wheels/tires. My current plan is to get some AMR wheels from AmericanMuscle and then ordering a set of Blizzaks from TireRack.com and just having a local shop mount them.

If you aren't going to drive in snow, you'll be fine with all seasons or maybe even summer only. Fact: I drove all of last winter here in DC on summer tires, we only had snow twice, and in both cases, it never stuck to the freeway. That being said, I'm going to get some GT500 18's for winter duty, but I haven't decided on all seasons or dedicated snows.

Tires are priced with road hazard, though the Conti's are manufacturer supported road hazard vs TireRack. Does anyone have any experience with these wheels, tires, or trying to use the hazard warranty with Tire Rack or Continental? Any help would be much appreciated, as I have plenty of time to make the decision before I order it all. Thanks!
I've been looking at the Sport Edition F10's as well. I'd really like to buy another set of OEM wheels, but decided I'd save a bit of money (about $100 per wheel) with the F10's, as they're just going to be winter beaters anyway. I've been on the brink of ordering for a few days now, I'm glad you asked about it!

I used Blizzaks on my Charger for several seasons - they're fine. Good winter performance, and not so bad for "spirited" driving when it's not slippery (almost all of the time last winter). They certainly did not have the sticky grip my summer only tires did, and they tended to break loose rather suddenly, especially during acceleration, but once learned it was predictable most of the time. They're expensive, but since I KNOW they're good I might just go with them again.
I look forward to the Torsen differential on my Mustang this winter also, that should be a big help.

The General G Max is also a good all-season tire. Worth a look.

Using search on this topic is good - lots of discussion about this already. But Danielle is braver than I would be - winter tires aren't only for snow/ice; they're for winter temps too. Summer tires shouldn't be used under 40 degree temps, whether it snows or not. OP, I love my Blizzaks. They provide incredible grip in the nasty stuff.

Guys, I merged a number of winter tire, wheel, and driving discussion threads into the one that was started a while ago. Let's try to keep from repeat threads about the same topic.

My X-Ices are done...I need to get new tires in a few weeks. Thinking Blizzaks this time around...I also put 120+ lbs of sand bags in the trunk.

We're looking to get some all season tires for our 2013 GT500. We won't drive it in the snow but will drive it on dry cold days below 40°. We're ording some 20" CS wheels and some Continental DWS.

20"x9" front with 255 35 20
20"x10" rear with 275 35 20

These are the closest sizes to the stock 265 40 19 & 285 35 20s that I have found.

I wasn't planning to get the TPMS in the new wheels. Is that going to trigger an idiot light in the 2013 GT500?

I've ordered a V6 w/perf pkg car that won't arrive before the snow flies. I'm going to switch the 255/40-19's for 235/55-17's (immediately when the car arrives - this will be my DD). I think they should be low-profile enough to keep good steering response and reasonably 'narrow' for a 3500lbs car (minimize plowing and catching ice or ruts). Steelies are hard to find in this size & spec, so I almost have to go with alloy wheels; the Blizzaks are great but in my experience they become average pretty quickly (which is still far, far better than A/S tires). I'll try something else this time...

I've checked and the 17s will fit OK, but I've never actually driven this car in winter to know that a 19" -> 17" rim size change won't somehow mess something else up in the handling or braking. Has anyone else tried this summer/winter combination?

Yes, it comes on after about 20 mins of driving but you can just hit reset and the message will go away, though the small light will still be on. Wasn't worth $186 to me for additional TPMS sensors either so I just deal with the light.

Yep... Same for all tpms cars. We have winter rims and tires for minivan and tsx...idiot light is on all winter. Np. Will shutoff in spring when the all seasons get remounted.

In case it helps anyone, I put Blizzaks (LM-60) on my 2011 V6. I bought a set of identical rims on eBay. That got me TPS (they had original tires with no miles on them, so I have a set of new summer rubber as well). I knew I could not live with the TPS light being on. I bought the TPS 'tool' from American Muscle for when I do the swap.
I have run two winters with them. It has been great. The first time I drove in bad weather, I felt more safe in this than I have in any front wheel drive (maybe because I learned on rear wheel drive).
Where I am they salt the roads pretty good, so most driving is more wet/slushy roads, but I do get plenty of deep snow.
I have not put weight in the trunk.

You non Brembo guys should look at Ford's black steel wheels for the Taurus/Explorer Interceptors. They are 18x8 and same offset as the stock 18" wheels on the Mustang. Or even the 17" Crown Vic CVPI wheels (17x7.5).

You can get a set of TPMS's & tool from Tousley Ford for $120 P/N M-1180-A. These will fit the Shelby Alcoa's.

Ford Racing's Tire Pressure Sensor kit fits 2010-13 Mustang GT/V6/Boss and 2010-12 GT500.

This kit includes 4 valve mounted tire pressure sensors and the proper programming/activation tool.

Note: Does not fit 2013 GT500 - sensors not approved for use above 155 miles per hour.

Product Benefits
  • Complete kit for all 4 wheels
  • Includes valve stems and programming tool
  • Ford original quality and engineering

I am just looking at a set of stock Premium Mustang V6 wheels with the Michelin all seasons on them, don't think the Pirelli P-Zero's are going to make it up the hill here if it does snow. Although we don't see a lot of snow but we do get cold for days at a time here so the all seasons should do fine.

Go to Tire Rack and plug in a 2010 GT500 convertible as your car, then select the OEM size for winter tires. That should be a perfect fit for you.

We have those on our Mazda6. They held up for nearly 35,000 miles, but I'd get something else. For the price, we're looking at the Continental DWS tires to replace them.
