The Greatnest of the Boss 302 LS

And yes, a GT500 does outperform the Boss when it comes to quantitative testing (as much as it matters) and frankly outside of a road course requiring mutliple laps and unrestricted by Fords stupid adherence to a speed limiter, a GT500 will clean a Boss 302's clock.

The Boss 302 LS is the BEST HANDLING mustang EVER! Every expert who has driven it has said so. They are NO weakness with this car. SVT mechanic at my dealership (who's driven plenty of GT500's) says that it's faster than the GT500.
I was kind of shocked by how much lighter the Boss felt that the GT500. You really feel the weight difference between these two cars.
Both are great cars but there is no question that Ford really put the engineering into the Boss. It's a complete package right out of the box. The GT500 always has needed to be tweaked to work out it's problems.
Perhaps the 2013 GT500 will be the ultimate, and it needs to be with the ZL1 coming out.

I'm just saying when you have to check how many posts someone has had bc their post is so biased... I was expecting 10 posts max. I wish I had either car, but come on... Really?

Different strokes for different folks. Thats why Ford makes them. Affordable V6's, premium GT's, Boss' for the track rats, GT500's for the guys that think they are fast.
Stirpot ~
& they do well because they hit a wide spectrum of the market + enthusiasts

You do know there are just as many (if not more differences) between a GT and a GT500 than the Boss compared to a GT, ergo part of the price difference.
And yes, a GT500 does outperform the Boss when it comes to quantitative testing (as much as it matters) and frankly outside of a road course requiring mutliple laps and unrestricted by Fords stupid adherence to a speed limiter, a GT500 will clean a Boss 302's clock.

Sorry buddy- read it and weep. You've NEVER heard any of this regarding the GT500.

Y'know I will agree with Whammer, the Boss is the best handling Mustang ever but thats only one dimension. However its mostly a combination of power and handling that gets you to the finish line first and if the difference in handling isn't altogether that great and the power is, then the sloppier handling car has more than a passing chance of making it there first.
And to be honest, the GT500 isn't made for prolonged periods of use, its at best a light track day car you jump in and turn a lap or two then hit the club and brag about how you smoked the guy with the GT2 RS who couldn't drive his way through a wet toilet paper curtain. So that works in the Boss's favor.
And your mechanic is wrong, I'll spot the Boss a good 475hp (I've been told thats what some people are seeing on a chassis dyno after correction) and a 3600 lbs weight and I'll let the GT500 stand at 550hp with with a 3900 lbs weight so here goes the P/W arguement so the Boss (if is making around 475 hp which is more than likely poor testing methods if the Boss is J1349 certified) is carrying 7.60 pounds per HP and the GT500 even at the bloated 07-09 weight is carrying 7.10 pounds per HP ergo in a pure contest of speed, the GT500 is faster and depending on aero the GT500 is more than likely able to pull a higher top speed.
The Boss like the GT is geared way more aggressively at the transmission than the GT500 so I willing to bet real money thats where your mechanic is basing his opinion.
Anyways this will be fun to revist when the 2013 Boss and GT500 come out.
