GOT THE VIN!
Once a car is serialized (you see it as getting a vehicle identification number) then under normal circumstances (barring some big problem or shutdown) it will be built. A dealer has x number of allocations to use how they want. They learn of those allocations from the zone office. A dealer can put a priority request on orders. Zones can change priorities. Ford Corp can change... and so on. Dealers can swap amongst them themselves to change or increase/decrease allocations. I know of one dealer who wanted to accomodate a customer who wanted a 'std' Boss instead of the dealer's LS. So the dealer swapped their LS allocation for another dealer's 'std' Boss allocation.
The absolute final decision on the actual order of builds is done at AAI. There is a process involved that makes sure the work stations are not overwhelmed - e.g. don't send a bunch of convertibles at once because some of the work stations assembling convertible-only components need more time to complete their task than normal, so when the next car on the line is a coupe, it allows the convertible time to run over into the assembly of the coupe that is less time intensive than the convertible. AAI also has to figure Mazdas into the mix... VINs can end up being far apart.
If a dealer has multiple allocations for the same quarter, they can request which one goes first / second / third , but that doesn't mean it will work out that way. I don't know your situation, but if you think the dealer is playing games with you, talk to them.
Mack, if you're trying to figure out 741, I replied to one of your posts in another thread 741 was (iirc) a GT sent to your same dealer, and your dealer must have told you 741 by mistake.

Yes,.. the 741 thing you were absolutely correct I went up to the dealer and saw the black GT 200741.. By the way it is pretty sweet also.
And I do understand the gaps in Vin #`s on Boss`s with everything being built at the plant. The part I don`t understand is the engine # verses the Vin I would have thought the lower the Vin on the Boss the lower the Boss engine number. But that is not the case.
But with that all being said the weather here in PA STINKS!!!
And all I can do is look at the BOSS
