Just came from the dealer. Order code has been bumped to "01" courtesy of the Zone Rep. If they build on schedule, and there are no QC holds, the car should arrive in early to mid February with a build week of January 17th...(my estimate). If QC holds start, the arrival could easily push right into March or April.

Thanks! But I'm still thinking that a QC hold will happen for the first run of cars, it almost always happens. My 2010 GT500 was a very early car (#123) and it sat on the lot at the Mustang VPC for nearly 60 days! People who ordered a couple of months after I did got their cars before I did.

I'm thinking the Boss has been being built for about 3 months now and all the QC issues should be ironed out for the first build cars 17 January. At least I hope that, I have a 31 January week build.

I suspect Ford has built "PP" (pilot production) cars by this time that are probably undergoing final validation. However, when the first ones come through, I would still expect some hold time to check them.

In fact, I'd rather there be some hold time, especially given some of the MT-82 manual transmission issues that some 2011 GT owners have been reporting for awhile. While I think there are 2 TSBs out for clutch-related shifting issues, there is a grinding/hard-to-go-into gear situation that I rather would see addressed for the 2012 model year run ahead of any release. From what's been posted, it seems as if a fix is being investigated still at this time.

I wonder how long it will take to get this fix into production?

For reference, here is the thread.

Is the clutch in the Boss different from the GT or the same?

The clutch is different. By how much is hard to tell. There are pics of a cutaway clutch from the Boss display at the LA show.

I thought I've read the clutch is stronger and Boss-specific. It's the shifting difficulties (grinding, hard to get into gear) that I am wondering more about since I don't think there were any Boss-specific changes to the MT-82.

From what I've read I don't think the issue with the clutch in the 5.0 is the plate, it's the associated hardware. The clutch plate in the Boss is different.

Got my VIN yesterday, 0572. Early number since I ordered in Nov.

They did not give me a build date, I think they are worried I will bother them over the delivery date if they gave me a build date. At least that is the impression I got. When a VIN number gets assigned does the built date get added or is that a separate progress.

Any of you guys on the inside able to find a build date?

What I was told is the VIN comes from the dealers inventory report and then they take the VIN into another system and get the build week. The same system will eventually show build date and then shipping etc.

Scott, the ordering person at the dealership should be able to give you a build week at this point, based on what others are experiencing. And while there are a number of variables that affect the delivery date, I can't imagine why taking a request for information would be a matter of concern from the dealership staff. After all, you are going to buy a $40,000 vehicle from them!

As was stated above, the assigning of the VIN and the build week are separate steps. So far, most people have received both at the same time, that may let up now that the system is getting more completely filled.
