Thanks guys, the dealer was pretty good with me when I bought the F150 two months ago.

There's a guy on the Ford site that as long as you have the VIN he'll check the schedule for your car. He's been off for a couple of weeks but should be back at work next week. I'm sure he'll have a large backlog when he returns but it's worth a shot.

First, congrats on the BOSS! And hello from GC.

Would you mind saying which dealer you went through? I hope to order a GT March-ish.

I know most, if not all, build dates were pushed back from 2 to 3 weeks. But now I am confused. I originally ordered 11/19/10 with a VIN of 2933 and a build week of 31 Jan that was delayed to week 21 Feb 2011. How is your VIN a lower number? Just curious how this works.

VINs are given out in the order that the orders are submitted AND allocated, which isn't necessarily the order that they're scheduled. VINs DO NOT run down the line in sequential order.

Mackds's original order was submitted to VOC Dec 6 and was (and is still showing) to be scheduled for Feb 7th, so if it is pushed back 2 weeks then the end of Feb would be correct.

Macds's order was put in Dec 6th and serialized Dec 9th, your order was submitted November 19th but wasn't serialized until Dec 16th, which means one of two things -- either his dealer had a better allocation slot than yours or your Boss isn't the first Boss order in line at your dealership.

Thanks for the clarification. My dealer did not submit my build order until the Zone rep came by and questioned why so late after 11/19. There was a GM change at my dealership and a delay until I met the new GM and convinced him to abide by my original deal (MSRP).

PICKED UP BOSS 3/28/11

Need some help I picked up my new 2012 Boss 302 Performance White /Black strip (8 miles) on 3/28/11. The VIN per the order was to be 200741 but came in as;
1ZVBP8CU5C5206355.

The number on the intake is 0228.

So where does this place the car in regard to Boss 302`s being delivered?
Why is there a discrepancy between the 200741 and the actual VIN#?
What info is out there on the track key?
I am a new bee to the posting thing so bare with me, all help would be great.

P.S. I have four stangs but I can tell this thing is a different bread!!! Hold on she is FAST.

Track key is still due out this summer, not much else has been released
Miller speedway is still waiting on their Bosses and Ford to finalize the track days
And someone else will have to help you with the rest

1ZVBP8CF0C5200741 is a Black GT Coupe sold to your same dealer. He must have accidentally given you the wrong vehicle identification number.

Congrats on your Boss !! It only gets better, and when the TracKey becomes available, lookout!

I am getting more confused with the Vin/build number on these cars as I see more cars that are completed.
Can some one explain how this numbering works???

There are three Boss 302`s for sell on Ebay that you can clearly see the numbers on.
They are;
1. Vin#202805 engine plate # 074
2. 206464============#201
3. 206568============#184

Then there is mine 206355 engine plate 228

They are in no order I don`t get it can someone explain how this works????

Mustangs are not built in vehicle identification number order. They are built in Commit number order. That commit number is not on your window sticker, but you may see some labels on parts of your car with the number. It's a four digit number that rolls over when it reaches it's maximum value.

The gaps in the Mustang commit numbers are the Mazdas being built along with the Mustangs.

To confuse things even further, the body shop, paint shop and trim line all have their own commit numbers.

And Vince would know, as he's had the live tour at least twice now, the bugger.

So what you are say then is if a dealer committed to a boss order early on lets say #50. Then the same dealer placed another Mustang in that slot for a sold order. Then #50 would move out and be built later with a higher Vin but would still have the engine plate #50?

P.S. What happened to Sparkey? I read some of his posts he was pretty sharp on this.
