I'm very interested in this key. but maybe its just our imaginations running wild. It probably does something really lame. lets be real here folks. Last time I checked, this is not Bugatti.

but.. Ford has done a great job putting gimmicky things in these cars for the last few years. My color, ambient lighting, sync,..... and now the beast key?

If an owner wants to add a set of electric valves, they just undo two bolts on either side; the disc and spacer slide out and the valve will slide right in. And the side pipes are tuned so that drivers can run wide-open and the sound levels are comfortable – very aggressive but livable for an all-day track outing.”

Carney further explains the thinking behind the unusual step of an OEM easing aftermarket component installation. “We’re Ford engineers, but we’re also enthusiasts,” he says. “We understand owner mods are part of the Mustang experience, so we try to help where we can.”
Oh I know.

There's a lot more that I can't talk about on here either...

Maybe Ford will be kind enough to release the "Beast Mode" tune via an FRPP Pro-Cal....................

Nah, it's more of a Track key than anything else from the sounds of it.

Since these are due in the spring I would say that within a month or 2 we'll know. The order banks for 2012 will open in Nov. Dealers will also need to have the info available.

So how does a car with a rev limiter set to 7,500 achieve revs above 7,500? The only way would be by having a setting that increased the rev limiter on the car. So that's what the "secret" key will allow.
Well, they could be just stating that the car keeps making power, but for reliability they held the redline to 7500.
(raise the redline of the coyote, and you'll see the same thing)

Whether by tune (which people will/can do with a handheld tuner) or this key everyone is talking about, is another story.

The billboard that was posted the other day said "Coming March 2011"

But the sooner the info gets here, the better!

I believe that is the exact redline of the grand am cars. Hmmm...
Here you Go, a pic of the speedometer

the coyote makes peak power at ~6600 RPM.

Correct, Spring begins in March.

Like I said, the order banks for 2012 will open in Nov. And we'll know at least a month in advance of that what the price will be.
I ordered my 08 Bullitt the 1st day the order banks opened and I got it mid Feb. I see this as the exact same thing.

From what I've read the Boss was designed to make power at the higher rpm's, which they said is what is needed on the track. Viewing the MT comparison between an M3 and the 2011 GT the test driver kept making comments about how the M3 just kept building rpm's and building speed. I'm no race expert, I'm just passing along the info as I gather it.

At least, that's how its written in the articles.
I disagree. The side pipes have discs that can be removed to allow more sound to flow through, but with the disks in place there is still sound transfer- just not as loud.

"The other two outlets exit to either side of the exhaust crossover, sending exhaust through a set of metal discs that act as tuning elements before the pipes terminate just ahead of the rear wheel opening."
So clearly this quote says that the discs are in place and sound is flowing through them.
The article goes on to say:
“The disc is removable and includes a spacer plate sized to match aftermarket exhaust dump valves."
So this tells us that the discs come out and would allow for a much louder exhaust note.

Ok, so my first part is wrong then,
but what I mean is you can't run straight dumps only, without an electronic valve/diverter

In this case the sound is always going through the quad, just through the discs to silence it abit, or remove them for more volume.

It also redlines at 8400.

The GT is tuned more for all around useablility
The BOSS engine is set for track and more up the M3s alley. (even though the M3 revs farther)
