We can all agree that a Boss 302 Mustang MUST be a special car or Ford shouldn't bother producing one. More than any other Ford produced performance model, the Boss holds a hallowed place in Mustang history. First and foremost, the Boss is about performance - it must provide the complete package of acceleration, braking and handling in one envelope. A Boss Mustang must be the best all around performing Mustang ever produced by Ford. That doesn't mean the Boss has to out-accelerate a GT500 but a Boss must outrun a Shelby on a road course. If the Boss doesn't deliver those pieces, it will fail and the Mustang faithful will revolt. Having said that, I believe Ford has clearly heard that message. The Boss also shouldn't be about all the bells and whistles, it is a PERFORMANCE car first and foremost. Sure, it should have AC (as anyone sweltering in the current heat wave can attest to), power windows and power locks but does it really need leather seats, cruise, navigation system, Sirius satellite radio? No. Ford should give a limited set of options to those that want them but they should be OPTIONS - so those of us who will take their Boss to the road course can with a light weight cruise missle.

If the BOSS is to compete (keep up in sales) against the Z28 (IMO Ford's reason for bringing it back) it will have to have all the bells & whistles 'available'.

I don't think the Ford expects the Boss to "keep up in sales" with anything. The conjecture seems to be a short run. The Z28 would be a GT500 competitor.

If a Z28 comes around, it'll be aiming at the top dog Mustang...

And if they make an SE, they'll sell every bloody one of them.

I stand corrected, the Z28 (currently being tested) is indeed more in-line with the GT-500 and the future Challenger V-10 http://blogs.insideline.com/straight...ger-srt10.html

I was curious if the 2011 Challenger would get any upgraded engines? But I haven't heard anything yet. I remember the post about the V-10 Challenger though.

Yes it does folks! It allows me to get a better Mustang and cheaper with no BS ADM's and in all reality a price very close to invoice. Thank you Challenger and Camaro.

Not a bad improvement, but the R/T really needs the old 6.1 to stay competitive. it is really way behind with the current engine.

It looks messy, but just click on either of the two links* and you'll see his point (ie: Challenger improvements).

I agree that the R/T still needs more attention.

A 290 hp Challenger V-6 is an improvement. At roughly 3800 lbs. it should give the Camaro serious competition, not the Mustang though. The R/T is way behind the competition as we already know. The new SRT-8 is improved with the 480 hp 6.4 but at 4100 lbs. can't compete with the Shelby GT500 or the coming 556 hp Z28. I fully expect the Shelby to get a bit more hp and bigger tires and wheels in 2012. I don't see the Z28 pushing anything less than 300's on the rear.

I was just at the GM proving grounds last month, they mentioned nothing specific about it. I would expect 2012, so they can get back to not having any government control in them and build niche cars, but we haven't heard anything confirmed yet.
