Eco Boost Performance or GT
Hello everyone - my first post on this forum. IMO, I would be very reluctant to believe Ford's soon-to-be released mileage ratings for the 2.3 EcoBoost. I had a 2011 F-150 Platinum with the 3.5 EB. The truck had excellent power and torque. However, even with driving it very gingerly, its MPG was 25% below its ratings. I talked with several EB openers and they had similar experiences. I am very close to ordering a 2015 GT Premium convertible (Job 2) and I am going with the 5.0 both for its extra performance and to avoid the EB 's less-than-rated gas mileage - just my opinion and I am no expert.
That was my experience with the 3.5TT as well. I saw them used as work trucks, but still. The mpg sucked. And ALL of them were knocking, after between 16-20k miles of towing. Not worth the headaches. Maybe it'll get better, but my 5.0 is just fine and I'm easily hitting 25mpg on my freeway trips.

Our '03 F-250 6.0 Diesel gets 16 mpg just about everywhere, just to put truck fuel mileage into perspective.
My GT on the other hand, gets the advertised mpg. I can get 27 mpg cruising at 65-70 mph, and I get about 16-17 mpg in the city.

My dad has a '13 F-150 Platinum EB, and the fuel mileage sucks! Neither of us have gotten it over 17.5 mpg. He has the 3.15 rear axle as well. I recall getting up to 17.8 mpg, but I was "babying" it between 60-65 mph. Never have I heard someone getting the 21mpg rating. If your worried about rumble just add a borla s type! Great sound and you get to keep your good fuel economy! I have already ruled out the GT due to cost. Trying to decide whether to get the v6 and add aftermarket upgrades or get the ecoboost.
Well between those options, gotta do Eco all the way!! With IRS and 310+ hp and mounts of tq, I see it being 350/370z type fun.
